Surf lesson with Guillermo - This was offered as 3 days, but I only had one day available in our schedule and wanted to do it anyway. We were a group of 5 women 2 with some experience, 4 of us 55+ with no experience. The trip begins with a one mile walk/hike to the beach & surf shed. I obviously didn’t pay close enough attention to the excursion description because I didn’t realize it was that long of a walk over varied terrain, and wore the wrong shoes. I did 95% of the walk in bare feet which was OK because I’m accustomed to walking barefoot a lot however the last bit over the pointy little rocks is where I drew the line and then had to ruin my shoes with my muddy feet. Guillermo made sure We all understood the surfing etiquette as well as safety rules for being out on the water with our boards. Next he took us through the basics on land, of how to properly align yourself on your board, and move from a paddling position to standing confidently. In the water we split into two groups so we all had a enough personalized attention. We all came away from the day successfully riding a few waves and most importantly having fun. Guillermo made the day enjoyable, joking with us the entire day - and teaching us to respect the board/water but also to let loose and have some fun. I would definitely go back and do this again - and would say it was one of the highlights (although there were many) on this (my 2nd visit) to Costa Rica My only regret was leaving my phone locked in the surf shed. I think it would have been perfectly safe on the beach, and I wish I had at least one picture of some of us riding a wave.

The best beginner surf experience - It was the best place to learn the beauty of surfing at a nice beach break. He was the chill and friendly guy you would expect to be a surf coach and he really tries to teach surfing to learn long term. The fruit was great and fresh and the perfect snack in between waves. You don’t need to worry about any of your stuff since he has a cabin to store it safely. And after the surf you hit the fresh water showers in the nature. Awesome experience, great guy and definitely will give him a visit if I am back. Pura Vida

Laughs, Good Vibes, and Surfing - My two friends and I had an amazing time with Guillermo as our instructor. We did 3 days of surfing in a row with him and his other instructor - 2 days on playa grande and 1 day on playa hermosa. We leveled up from total beginners to almost intermediate surfers in that short time under his tutelage. I cannot say enough good things about Guillermo--he not only has a fantastic sense of humor, but is also very concerned about his students safety, and is an incredible teacher. I highly recommend this surf school if you're interested in learning and want to spend some time on the amazing waves around the Nicoya peninsula.

Stood up on the 1st lesson! - Guillermo really knows how to transmit that relaxed yet confident surfer vibe that is so necessary for catching waves. He is a seasoned surfer and surf instructor and knows how to break down the sport into very learnable steps. I started out with no previous experience and stood up on the board on the very first day! He is encouraging, fun and knowledgeable. The school has a great collection of boards that can take you from rank beginner all the way up to intermediate and beyond. Guillermo guides you step by step so that every lesson is a success. I have been taken regular classes with him for 4 months and can now consider myself an intermediate surfer. Guillermo still has much to teach me. I recommend him highly for all level surfers. Whether you have time for a 3 - 5 class package or more, you will have a great surfing experience.
