The most amazing instructor with the best teaching style. - Alvaro has been an amazing instructor! His teaching style has really helped me improve quickly. He gives clear instructions and is very professional. I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from him and I am planning to go back and take more lessons with him.

Excellent Surf Instruction - I am a former high level athletic instructor. I have worked with hundreds of coaches over the years. The coaches at Salt Water Surf Company are not only highly qualified and technical instructors, they also clearly care deeply about the people they work with. I spent 7 days working with their coaches and I strongly recommend them. They are knowledgeable, and excellent with any level of surfer regardless of the individual surfers experience. I will be visiting Costa Rica again and plan to work with the coaches at Salt Water Surf Company when I return.

Amazing surf instructor!! - I’ve had surf instructors in the past that were good but no comparison to Alvaro! Not only is he certified (most instructors aren’t), he is patient, super knowledgeable and passionate about teaching you how to surf. He also breaks every detail down for you so you get it and it’s easy to understand. My surfing has improved so much thanks to him, also you can see that he cares a lot by the way he teaches and helps you, Thanks again Alvaro!

Álvaro is a great mix of professional and fun. We always have a great time with him and he takes good care of us 😊 - Álvaro instructs my kids and I often at the Playa Hermosa Beach. He is excellent with all three of us and our individual needs. He is very experienced, knowledgeable, punctual, focused, kind, considerate and very helpful in his instruction. We all really enjoy our time with him and have a lot of fun :)

Excellent first-time surfing experience with a seasoned professional instructor - Alvaro was a very good teacher - one of the best I’ve ever experienced for any sport or outdoor activity. This was my first time surfing, and I felt I developed good skills under his direction. He communicated principles and methods very clearly. He was clearly committed to our progress, safety, and enjoyment. My wife and I are in our sixties and reasonably fit, and our son is 31 and very athletic. He helped all three of us enjoy surfing and progress in our skills. He was encouraging but firm. It was also clear he had the respect of his peers on the beach. I will definitely come back to Santa Theresa to surf, and I will make sure he is available when I do.

Best Day Ever! - Alvaro and his entire team were amazing! From the moment I contact Alvaro, he was so professional and accommodating for our group of 4 adults and two young children. The day of our lesson he had 4 instructors for us, one for each of the children and 2:1 ratio for the adults. They were patient, funny and encouraging! Every single one of us rode waves before the lesson was finished. The best of all, Alvaro surprised our group with a professional photographer taking photos of us. These will be forever memories for us all and now we have the photos to reminisce! Thank you Alvaro and crew!

I learned how to surf! - I had an incredible experience learning how to surf for the first time with Alvaro as my instructor. He did a great job making me feel comfortable, especially as a young female traveling alone. Alvaro was knowledgeable, reassuring, and patient with me and all of the other students in his group, regardless of their prior surf experience. I went into the week with the expectation that I would not be able to stand on my board until the 2nd or 3rd day, but by the end of the week, I had "graduated" from shallow waters to the lineup and caught more waves than I could have imagined going into this. I don't think I would have progressed as quickly if I had a different instructor and am extremely grateful for the experience. I am already planning my next trip back and cannot wait to surf again.
