Setting Sail on the Santa Maria

The sun was just beginning to rise over the horizon as I made my way to the beach, the anticipation of the day ahead buzzing in the air. I was about to embark on the Punta Cana Private Cruise—a day of snorkeling, seafood, and sun-soaked adventure. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours in the ocean, but there’s always something magical about setting sail on a new adventure.

The friendly staff greeted us with warm smiles and guided us onto a smaller boat that would take us to the Santa Maria, their largest vessel. The moment I stepped aboard, I knew this was going to be a day to remember. The music was already playing, and the open bar was ready to serve up tropical delights. The atmosphere was electric, and I couldn’t help but join in the dancing as we set sail towards the vibrant reefs of Punta Cana.

Diving into the Deep Blue

As we approached the snorkeling site, the excitement was palpable. The water was a mesmerizing shade of turquoise, and I couldn’t wait to dive in. The reef was part of Hispaniola Aquatic Adventures’ coral gardening project, and it was heartening to see the efforts being made to preserve this underwater paradise. As I dove deeper, exploring the nooks and crannies of the reef, I felt a profound connection to the ocean—a reminder of why I chose this life of island exploration and adventure.

A Feast for the Senses

After our underwater escapade, the party continued on deck. We made our way to a secluded beach, where we were treated to Coco Loco drinks served in fresh coconuts—a true taste of the tropics. The sun was high in the sky, and the laughter of fellow adventurers filled the air.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the floating kitchen, where we indulged in a seafood feast like no other. Shrimp, fish, octopus, and unlimited lobsters were on the menu, each dish more delicious than the last. As I savored the flavors of the sea, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience such a unique adventure.

As the day drew to a close, we made one final stop at a newly constructed reef, where we had the chance to snorkel once more. The sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the water, and I knew this was a day I would never forget.
