EXCELLENTE!!!! - Skip the safari open air buses and go directly to this personalized and private tour in an airconditioned comfortable van. Being in our late 70s my husband and I opted for this tour for a few more dollars than a group tour. Our driver Adonis, and our tour guide Gabriel were fantastic. Adonis was an expert at navigating the many speed bumps, tight corners and bumpy roads while Gabriel was sensitive to our needs; he was very caring and gracious. He told us alot about the DR and its people and answered all of our many questions. He was extremely knowledgeable and communicated with us throughout the tour. Unfortunately, because I did not eat breakfast and was unaccustomed to the bumpy roads, I got a little carsick but Gabriel made sure I kept hydrated and fed. Despite the little setback it was a great trip and we had a fabulous time!! I highly recommend this one!!

Great attention from Gina & Vladimir on this tour - We had a great experience on this tour with my wife and son, Gina & Vladimir made is memorable, always attentive of people, explaining all the details on the tour, guiding what to do and dont; my family and me enjoyed a lot this experience.

Fun day but hard to understand - We really enjoyed getting out of our all inclusive resort and seeing the countryside and some interior towns. The biggest complaint was that neither the driver or tour guide were fluent in English, although they were both very nice. While the interaction was fun it would have been more enlightening to have a recording with a lot more information which we could fully understand.

Horrible not worth it - DO NOT BOOK YOUR TOURS WITH TAMBOR Y GUITARRA & DO NOT BUY ANY OF YOUR EXCURSIONS OFF OF THE BEACH! Book w your resort! From beginning to end these services are not worth a penny. First off they want to act like they have no clue who the beach tour representatives are yet they are all well in touch. Secondly, they read Money signs all over if you’re a tourist. Thirdly, although the tour guide was respectfully disrespecting me & my family & thought we couldn’t notice it was a terrible experience. Paid a deposit to a man named Jose Luis on the beach who told us our trip would consist of La playa Macao with horse riding on the beach along with food & music on the beach. We were waiting for our tour guide at 8 am and they didn’t arrive until late 09:30 AM trip supposed to be all day, we chose to end it by 1PM due to how disgusting this entire transaction was. We stopped at a “bodega” in which our tour guide told us we must change the money because he needed it to pay certain fees. He bought beers, water, Rum, to provide the family, we used none but some waters LIMITED TOO! The horse riding was at a ranch with mud slides everywhere. It’s one go around for less than 15 mins, you get a little bit of history on cigars, & then they try to convince you to buy your souvenirs or something. The only person deserving a tip out of “buena voluntad” was the man helping my 2 year old son on his horse. The horses are beat up, absolutely dirty, not taken care of. We were told by our tour guide Osvaldo, to make the best of the experience because he was told safari and that is what he is showing us. We proceeded to “el Mercado” aka Osvaldo’s cousins store. Again; we were trying to make The best of it & we purchased a $270.00 purchase in US Dollars. We then drove to the next stop which was food on the mountain. It was a place with flies all over the food. We know Dominican food we are A Latino family, this was disgusting they made it seem Like we would be on the mountain, like people would cook right there False! All of this is false advertisement! I could’ve paid anyone to take me somewhere like this. We wanted to enjoy our day and this truly made our day terrible, to continue we decided to tell Mr.Osvaldo that we did not want to continue to bring us back to our resorts they charged my 9 year old niece & 12 year old nephew and 2.5 baby adult prices. As we explained to Osvaldo that this is not what was explained, he reminded us it was not his fault. We reassured him we understood, until he became disrespectful because we wanted a refund or info on how to get a refund, his answer was “despues que se dieron los servicios”. We were not trying to not pay OSVALDO because he did what he was supposedly told to do. ( doubt it because there’s no tour company in the world that would say go and take tourist to an area that’s beyond impoverished & highly risky ) learning the culture & history is one thing i didn’t come to have to give every kid on the street money, nor to feel like it was not safe to be where we were. We love the family vibes the people here attempt to give off, some genuine some just want the tips. We are very disgusted with this tour and the entire company. Johnny the “manager” was unable to help, the tour guide Osvaldo claimed to not know the beach representative. All beverages were left to them, the driver Eugenio kept asking to call him so we can book with him and he will take us anywhere, he kept making side comments like this would have never happened with him. It’s our third day on our trip, we now have to deal with making a police report!
