- Sillustani - Pick up from your hotel will be at 2:00pm with out private bus. It will take approximately 45 minutes to get to the archaeological site of Sillustani. Here, you will see Incan and Pre-Incan funerary tombs. After you will also visit Umayo Lagoon before returning to Puno. You will be returning to Puno at approximately 5:30pm.

The archaeological complex of Sillustani (FUNERAL TOWERS) is located at the high plateau surrounded by a magical lagoon called Umayo of stunning beauty in the western city of Puno.
Sillustani is one of the most important necropolis in the Andean world known for its gigantic funerary towers ‘CHULLPAS’. The famous Chullpas are towers constructed in stone that were used by diverse cultures, among them the collas and later by the Incas. The chullpa of the Lizard stands out for being the highest of site, reaching more than 12 meters of height. In the vicinity you can see some waru waru, which are artificial earth mounds designed to protect crops against frosts and floods. With luck in Sillustani you can also observe wild pigs of the Indies, birds like flamingos and other wild animals of the high Andes.

A perfect half day tour - An incredible half day trip to Sillustani with Planet Odysseys. The guide was well ontime and the explanation given was to the point and the guide also spoke good English. It was well worth the visit.

A glimpse of an Andean culture - The tour guide picked me up from the hotel and walked to the taxi. Then we stopped by for a bit to the Mirador del Puma vista to see a vantage point of Lake Titicaca. Then on the way to Sillustani, the tour provided history and pre-history of the Inca. The next stop is at a pueblo where they talk about the way of life in the Andean culture, food: a sampling of different potatoes, cheese, toktochi (quinoa patty) and a taste of clay! Then at the main site, we had to hike to the top of the hill. I did not anticipate this and unfortunately, it was my 1st day in Puno and experiencing altitude sickness. I chose to stay within the entrance and chat with the locals.

Thanks - Did this half day tour in Puno before flying back to Lima and it was a very timely and detailed trip. Often overlooked, the place has historic importance and having a good and knowledgable guide is definitely an icing on the cake,

Wikipedia and a private taxi makes more sense - We decided to pick this organization because it offered groups up to 10 people max and english speaking guides.
+ pick up from the hotel, by a very friendly woman

+ punctual return to Puno
+ the archeological site is beautiful
- guide was not able or, after I complained, willingly to give all infos in english that he gave in spanish, actually at some point he stopped completely
- unscheduled stop at a „farm house“ where we were supposed to buy souvenirs or take pics with animals
