Duration: 2 hours, 15 minutes
Cancellation: 1 day learn more
Highlights
  • Ecotours Vallarta / Dive Shop - 4:30 pm start the check in
4:45 pm Meet with your guide and the rest of our guests at our office in Marina Vallarta, where we begin with an informative talk about the biology and ecology of sea turtles.
At the end of the talk, we go aboard our comfortable vehicles and go to our destination: the Boca de Tomates Sea Turtle Camp. To get there, we have to walk on the beach less than half of a mile (656 yards), on sand and loose gravel. Once at the camp, the guide will explain to you about the site and the work done there to protect the turtles. At dusk, the camp managers will tell us how to help the little turtles get safe and sound to the ocean.
Once the hatchlings have reached the sea, we will walk back to our vehicle looking for female turtles coming to shore to lay their eggs, however we cannot guarantee that we will find them, since they don’t have a specific place or time to spawn.

Recommendation: Wear comfortable clothes and walking shoes and to bring insect repellent.

Experience of a lifetime. - We've done similar tours in the past as we've been to Puerto Vallarta multiple times. I have to say that this tour is such a bargain that you simply cannot miss if you're in Puerto Vallarta between Oct to Dec. The tour was well organized and extremely informative. They take great pride of their work and you could tell that they're so dedicated in trying to help saving the endangered sea turtles. This is our son's 3rd time taking the tour and it never gets old. You almost feel honored that you get to be a part of their mission to save the sea turtles. Do not miss the opportunity!

A bucket list item crossed off! - From start to finish, this tour was everything we hoped it would be. Great information at the start, followed by the releasing of the baby turtles at sunset. Those little turtles have a lot of obstacles to overcome and it was nice to give them a head start with a safe trip to the ocean. Christina and Michael were fantastic guides for this amazing turtle experience. You can tell that they love what they do!

So informative!!! - This is a great tour to take. First we sit in the Eco Tour center and learn about the turtles, their chances of survival, their predators etc. You can ask many questions and the ladies were wonderful answering them all. Then a short drive to the end of the road by the Marina Golf course and a walk to the Turtle egg conservation area. There you get to release the turtles. The highlight of this excursion was after we released the small turtles at dusk we walked back to the vans. While we were doing this a momma turtle landed on shore and was trying to climb on to the sand to go lay her eggs. Unfortunately there were three shrieking kids and the turtle got spooked and left. It was still a great thing to see and a once in a lifetime experience.

Amazing sea turtle experience - From start to finish, this was amazing. It started with some information about sea turtles and was very educational. We then went to the beach and walked a little way up to the nursery. We got to release the turtles into the ocean and it was absolutely outstanding. The guides were both incredible and extremely friendly. I can't recommend this enough. Bring a few extra dollars if you want to donate to the sanctuary directly as well.
