Highlights
  • Boca de Tomatlan - In this hike we will explore different hidden beaches following a Beach/Jungle trail

ABOUT:
We meet in Zona Romantica, old center of Puerto Vallarta. Here we take an urban transport just like the locals do!

After a pleasant 25 min ride along the coast we get off at a picturesque fisher town.
Here we will start our hike following the riverbank and the sea.
From there we start our ascent in the tropical forest with some amazing views!

After a short hike trough the jungle we descend to our first destination: Colomitos Beach, officially the smallest beach in Mexico!
After a rest and pictures we continue our path and leave the many tourist behind us to explore more hidden beaches.

Here we have the opportunity to swim alone and feel in paradise.
If the sea is calm, we will visit a secret place where to snorkel and observe a great diversity of fish!

After this refreshing break we’ll continue to our final destination and last beach: ‘Playa las animas’.
Here we have the option to have an incredible local seafood plate. (Not included)

Last but not least we take the boat back to the fishertown where we started the hike. Here we will see the bay from a total different perspective!

Wear proper walking shoes. - After reading the reviews we decided we take our chances with this hiking tour. Our Guide Alex met us in the Zona Romántica area where we took a bus to Boca. There we got a boat to our first hidden beach, it was about 5 minutes away. From the there the trek started. We climbed up and down hill to reach the beaches. I read the reviews before booking this tour. A word of warning, please wear suitable walking sandals or trainers with a good grip. My husband and I both slipped a little, aswell as the other couples. A backpack is better than a tote bag. The trail has different levels and surfaces and you may have to place your foot in different positions or grab onto something to help you. Slow and steady is best. You also have to be physically fit. There was also another guide there who was at the back of the group to make sure no one was left behind. We ended the day at a beach front restaurant where I had the best Shrimp tacos.

Wonderful active family tour - Guillermo was an excellent tour guide! Would 10/10 recommend this hiking tour for a family with older children (ours are 21 and 15). Smaller children would not be able to traverse some of the hike. Wear bathing suits prior to leaving for the meet up location, really no need for towels if you wear water shoes for the entirety of the hike. Bring pesos for beach side fresh mango and coconut water. Pesos or card can be used at the restaurant at Los Animas. Highly recommend the shrimp tacos and guacamole. Possibly an option at the end to ride a boat all the way back from Los Animas to Zona Romantica. Have pesos available. Overall, wonderful tour. Possibly our best day in Puerto Vallarta.

Fun moderate hike! - Highly recommend this hike! (it does get very hot though, so bring lots of water and light clothes) Diego was a great guide. Mini history lessons on sites that we past which was very interesting! Took a small boat to the first beach where we hung out for about 45 minutes swimming and there’s also a spot to jump off of. Our guide Diego was very understanding of physical limits but was willing to show us the way to the cliff for jumping! The first hike was the hardest part as it was pretty up hill with no hand rails or a straight path. Diego was great with waiting and letting us have water breaks before continuing! We stopped at a small local juice bar and spent maybe $200 pesos for a coconut and were able to hang out in the shade until we kept hiking! After walking on the sand for a bit we made it to our final stop and had lunch! the place was great and food tasted better than in the city! after eating we took a bus back to the meeting point and went from there. The bus ride was about 30ish minutes. Great hike and day activity!

Awesome time and great guide. - Diego, was an excellent guide. Very nice and informative. Had a great time. The hiking was amazing. Got some amazing views and saw some really nice beaches. We only hit 4 or 6. Not sure why bit I believe it's because he Said they were harder to get to and we had younger kids in the group but not exactly sure and it didn't bother me. People wrote it was a difficult trek and it really want at all. If you can walk you will have a great time. Id recommend skipping the bus back to get home and just take boat like our group did. It turns into nearly two excursion for very little money

Perfect - Awesome experience. The bus ride is a fun way to feel immersed in the culture. The boat rides were beautiful and the hiking was terrific. I would classify the hike as moderate. Definitely some semi difficult spots that I could see some people struggling with. The beaches were amazing and very empty in May.
