The day started with a sense of adventure as I set out from Amber Cove, eager to experience the renowned Damajagua Falls. The journey to the falls was an adventure in itself, with our driver, Lilo, expertly navigating the winding roads of Puerto Plata. The drive was a scenic 45-minute ride, offering glimpses of the lush landscapes that the Dominican Republic is famous for. As we approached the falls, the anticipation grew, and I couldn’t help but feel a rush of excitement.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Ezequiel, our guide for the day, who was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly personable. He was there to capture every moment of our adventure, ensuring that we had memories to take home. Although I initially wasn’t keen on having my picture taken, Ezequiel’s enthusiasm was infectious, and I soon found myself posing for photos as we embarked on our hike.

Supporting the local economy felt like the right thing to do, and it was a great way to end our excursion.

As we made our way back to the port, I reflected on the day’s adventure.
