Sailing Adventures in Lanzarote: A Family’s Day on the Waves
Eager to find a family-friendly adventure in Lanzarote, I embarked on a boat trip to the Papagayo beaches. Join me as I share the highlights of this unforgettable day on the water.
Setting Sail from Puerto Calero
As a travel writer and a mother of three, I am always on the lookout for family-friendly adventures that promise both fun and learning. When I heard about The Best Boat Trip Lanzarote, I knew it was something I had to experience with my kids. Our journey began with a convenient coach pick-up from Playa Flamingo, which was included in the price. The 30-minute transfer to Puerto Calero was smooth and gave us a chance to enjoy the scenic views of Lanzarote.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the sight of a magnificent catamaran, spotlessly clean and ready to take us on an unforgettable journey. As we set sail down the east coast towards the Papagayo beaches, the wind filled the sails, and the sea was calm, making it a perfect day for sailing. The crew was attentive, serving drinks and snacks as we enjoyed the stunning views of the coastline.
A Splash of Adventure at Papagayo
Anchoring just off Playa Mujeres beach, we were in for a treat. The water was a beautiful shade of blue, crystal clear, and inviting. My children were thrilled to try snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding. The ocean was teeming with life, and we spotted a variety of fish, including the vibrant parrotfish foraging around the sea urchins. It was a magical underwater world that captivated us all.
After a refreshing swim, we returned to the boat for a delicious lunch. The pasta, tomato and garlic sauces, salad, breads, and potatoes were just what we needed to refuel. The kids loved the freedom of jumping and diving off the boat, and I felt at ease knowing the waters were safe, with no jellyfish or sharks to worry about.
Riding the Waves Back to Port
As our time at anchor came to an end, we set sail back to Puerto Calero. The return journey was an adventure in itself. Sailing into the wind, the waves had grown to about 3 meters, and the crew warned us that sitting on the front netting might result in getting wet. My son and I decided to embrace the challenge, and we were soon drenched by the waves crashing over the boat. It was exhilarating and kept us cool under the hot sun.
The camaraderie on board was infectious, with the hosts and captain ensuring everyone had a fantastic time. As we returned to port, I reflected on the day and realized it was one of the best boat trips we had ever experienced. The combination of adventure, relaxation, and family fun made it a day to remember. If you’re planning a trip to Lanzarote, I highly recommend setting sail on this unforgettable journey.
