• 1, 3rd Main Rd - As you stroll through residential areas, you’ll notice simple art on the roads, created with twisted white lines. These can range from basic patterns like flowers and leaves to lamps and intriguing geometric designs. However, it doesn’t end there. During festivals and special occasions, you’ll witness larger, more colorful, and eye-catching art. This is known as “kolam.”

But why would anyone go through the effort of cleaning the street daily, watering it, and drawing beautiful patterns? You’ll be fascinated to discover the cultural, scientific, and artistic reasons behind it. At Towntales, you can learn some simple, cool, and interesting “Kolam” patterns.

What exactly is Kolam? What makes it so important in Indian households? And why does someone willingly choose to make these intricate designs on public roads daily, not only during special events? All of these inquiries will be answered at the workshop.

What you can expect to gain:

2. A Kolam kit for you to continue practicing at home - it includes a design template and a selection of colored Kolam powder.
3. You will be taught how to prepare Kolam powder.
