Highlights
  • Provincetown - Nearly 400 years ago, they said I had “rather bine a Husband than a Wife… a preacher than a Hearer” and banished me from Massachusetts.

Hm, well… I’ve been able to pull myself back and gain a toehold at the tip of the (now) state that United them all. Please join me in spreading my “corrupt opinions” once more on a history tour through Provincetown’s center!

As the Puritans’ worst nightmare and icon for renovating gender, I think you will find there is no better mouth from which to hear Ptown’s story.

Leaning into foes’ accusations of “Licentiousnesse and sinfull Liberty”, some call my modern preaching comedy. Please understand therefore that the tour is for adults only.

Do not waste time in discovering the grace of true Christ in your souls and join me as a member of the Elect!

Additional Information

Embark on a historical journey in Provincetown with one of the most notorious figures in American history, Anne Hutchinson. Banished from Massachusetts four centuries ago, she possesses an intimate knowledge of the town’s rich past. Your walk will take you through the heart of the city, invoking the meaningful locales that shape Provincetown’s narrative. Don’t anticipate extensive mileage (1 mi); instead, prepare for the scandalous conduct that caused Anne’s expulsion. This tour is strictly for ADULTS ONLY, preferably 21 and over, and identification will be checked to ensure all participants are of legal age. Anne’s delivery, which lasts about an hour, has been known to provoke such intense mirth that it takes great composure to withstand it. Therefore, we suggest arriving early for a libation at the Crown & Anchor patio bar. It’s worth noting that Anne’s opponents believed she was ‘more of a husband than a wife’ and that her aspiration was to be ‘lauded, admired and followed.’ You can now achieve this by following her 1600s social media handle: @americanjesabel.

  • Adults only and suggested 21+

P-Town Through the Eyes of Anne - Anne Hutchison is a marvelous introduction to Provincetown as it both was and is today. The hour passed too quickly, even though we were out on a rainy December day. I look forward to walking the streets of P-Town with Anne again on our next visit to Cape Cod!

Fun tour! - Not your typical history lesson!! Great to hear history from Anne's point of view and a lot of other minority groups from the era. Funny & entertaining. Highly recommend if you've got a good sense of humor and not easily offended. Thanks, Anne, your make up was spot on!

Inclusive storytelling, fab lipstick - A must do! Anne was clever, insightful and perfectly cheeky. Amazing degree of research and applying her story/voice to our modern context. Wish major museums/history institutions would tell inclusive and full narratives the way she does. Beyond impressed and hope to catch one of her other shows in Ptown! Thanks Anne!!

Okay but brief - Somewhat amusing and enjoyable. Not enough places on tour. Anne was fun but just not enough content.
