It’ll Make You Want to Slap Your Mama! - It began with the spectacular views of the gardens and the surrounding hillsides, and the warm welcome from Otto and Constantine (the dogs), as well as the cat, chickens, and ducks. This was only to be surpassed by the warm hospitality of our hosts, Alina and Chiara. Our introduction to the traditional art of pasta making was educational, authentic, inspirational and good old-fashioned hard work. (Bring your muscles for the kneading.) The resulting feast of multiple pasta dishes was further enhanced by the camaraderie of our fellow cooks as we had harvested our own garden herbs and prepared by hand four different types of pasta. The finale was the “summer tiramisu”, made with fresh fruits instead of coffee, and topped with various color of flowers from the gardens. We gorged on coffee, pastas, wine and tiramisu, and still had molto leftovers to take home. We give this experience a Dieci +!! Ottimo!! No, we’re not travel writers, just food junkies.

Beautiful farm and very fun cooking class! - This entire experience was so lovely—if I could give it more than five stars I would! The Fontanaro estate is beautiful and Alina and her mom were such lovely hosts. We made several types of pastas, a summer tiramisu, drank their excellent wine, had some of her mom’s homemade limoncello, and toured the olive oil mill. The whole day was so much fun. Highly, highly recommend.

Choose this one! - My friend and I loved this experience. We looked at various options for cooking classes and we were so glad we chose this one. The farm is beautiful and the experience goes way beyond cooking to learning about the importance of small organic farms. Alina was very helpful with advising us regarding how to travel by train + taxi from Orvieto and back and even sent us "home" with leftovers of the pasta dishes we created.

Fun and delicious experience - I cannot recommend Alina’s cooking school strongly enough! She was both a great teacher and wonderful company. Her farm and cooking space are gorgeous and she was incredibly welcoming. In addition to cooking a huge menu with us she gave us travel tips for the rest of our time in Italy and even arranged a wine tasting for us at a winery on our way home. The food we made was so tasty and she made learning really fun. Don’t miss this!

Great Slow Down Tour! - This was the one thing that I booked for just myself on a 16 day trip in Umbria with my two little kids and husband. It did not disappoint! Alina was such a sweet host and teacher who helped us make delicious pasta, showed us around her olive oil mill and allowed us to truly SLOW down!

The perfect Italian respite - Alina's cooking class was an amazing experience! We met three interesting couples and had a great time learning how to make pasta, pasta and more pasta! We were lucky enough to stay in Sangiovese at Il Fontanaro and will definitely be back. It was quiet and peaceful ... a nice respite from the big crowds in Italy's major cities.

Best Pasta and Tiramisu class - Wonderful session cooking pasta and tiramisu. Three different pasta dishes were made with ease. Simple easy guidance by Alina who is helpful and encourages everyone to participate. It was a great class and even more fun eating what we had made with fellow travellers. Recipes are sent to you via email so you can recreate 😁 Alina also chats about olive oil and their process in harvesting/bottling. Very interesting and informative.

Perfect Presentation - Ciara, was such a great representative of this great heritage. Her knowledge of the vineyard, the family history, the Chianti tradition, the process and the flavor recognition. We purchased three (2)wines and their wonderful olive oil. Can’t wait to arrive back to Paris and drink Super Tuscan and Reserve🍷
