Hello, I’m Anna Maria Priora, an Italian certified tour guide with a doctorate in WWII history in Italy from Humboldt University of Berlin. I am eager to share with you the crucial episodes of the 4 Cassino Battles, as well as the individual stories from Veterans, underscoring that their remembrance is key for our future.
I will meet you with my Italian Minivan at Cassino’s train station and will begin with a brief introduction of the new town, completely reconstructed after the war.
We will pause in the town where the German Headquarter was situated, subsequently moving to Castle Hill (where the Kiwis and the Gurkas launched their attack on the Abbey) and then to the Belvedere, from where I will illustrate the Liri valley where the disputes took place.
We plan to explore the Abbey of Monte Cassino from a WWII perspective, and afterward, we will stop by the Commonwealth Cemetery.

Exceptional Guide - Anna is very friendly, & knows the lay of the land as she is a local. She can answer any questions and if you have any specific request she will do her utmost to fulfill it.
As we had a foggy start to our day and tree surgeons closing roads she took everything in her stride and adjusted the route accordingly so we didn't miss anything.
Nothing felt rushed even when we ran into another Kiwi who knew little of the battle and we informed him of the different points we could see from the panoramic viewpoint.
We also endorse her lunch recommendation and patisserie, both were delicious.

Informative, useful, essential, worthwhile - I'd seen a documentary on TV about the battle but no documentary could do it justice. I need to see the physical space, geometry, background and details to get some understanding, and Anna did that, in spades.
Anna's communication was great and clear and she pointed us to other sites for the next day we would otherwise have missed.
My partner had been less keen before hand but afterwards she agreed it was money very well spent.

If you are in Cassino, do not miss this tour! - Anna is a professional and thoughtful guide who knows everything about the history of Cassino. Wonderful tour of the Monte Cassino War battles! - My husband's father was in the US Army 36th Infantry Division during WWII and was in the battles around Cassino/Rapido River. I am so glad I found Anna's tour of this area. What a gift for us to be able to see the battlefields, hear the stories of what was happening during that time, and the aftermath. Anna's PhD in the 4 Cassino battles and the fact that she lives along the Rapido River gave us so much good info. She is also a gifted story-teller and made us feel like we were there, as well as giving us a much better understanding of what Jim's father experienced. She showed us the area from several different physical perspectives, which added to our understanding. I highly recommend this tour!

Engaging throughout - It was very enjoyable and informative. Anna personalised the trip based on our family history and answered all our questions, filling in the gaps of our family's history. Would really recommend to anyone wanting to know more about the history of this place.

Great tour - Really enjoyable tour with so much information from our very knowledgeable guide. You couldn't get someone better to take you to these sites. Very friendly and personable guide. The timing of everything was great and didn't feel rushed. The only down side for me, was being squished in the back seat of the car on a very hot day without aircon and I missed some of what was said from road noise with the front windows open. My window didn't open. My husband on the other hand sat in the front and had an excellent journey.

An unbelievably thorough account …. - Anna gives an excellent and thorough account of the battles that surrounded the area of Monte Cassino.
