The journey unfolds along the shore of Lake Como, specifically between the villages of Loppia and San Giovanni. The path is peppered with majestic villas and their beautiful gardens, each showcasing distinctive architectural styles and historical significance. Notable mentions include Villa Melzi, renowned for its award-winning gardens that were once visited by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Emperor of France. We also pass through Villa Gerli Trivulzio and Villa Trotti, both exemplifying holiday estates owned by Milan’s noble families. In San Giovanni, we marvel at the baroque church, which is among the highest-rated baroque structures along the lake. Also, Villa Placida, which represents a late 19th-century aristocratic villa. As the day draws to a close, the setting sun adds another layer of beauty, particularly towards the horizon where the world-renowned Villa Balbianello proudly stands.
