A perfect tour - My husband and I were the only ones to book from our Cruise so Jesus gave us a more personal guide through Progreso. For the all you can buffet they accomadated us as we don't eat shellfish or pork so we were able still eat delicious food too. Jesus took great care of us and was extremely patient and knowledgeable about all things. I would definitely recommend this tour. When we come back we're expecting to see Jesus again. 10 Stars!!!

Great excursion owned by a local family - Sergio's grandson Jesus was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable and attentive. We started our journey on Carnival Breeze and picked this excursion through Viator because of the reviews. 1st stop was the ponds at a nature reserve... raccoons, crystal clear water, and plenty of fish. Clean bathrooms and snacks available. 2nd was the salt flats.... really cool experience. Our group was small and Jesus was close to the owner and that allowed us the opportunity to walk in the salt water. The larger tour busses owned by other companies did not get that experience (and probably paid more than we did). We purchased large bags of salt rock for $3 ea. And ate tacos cooked by the owner of the property. 3rd we went to Xcampo ruins... also a cool experience. No running water here. Bathrooms stunk. Iguanas everywhere and again Jesus was very knowledgeable of the history. 4th we seen Flamingos on the way back to Progeso. Finally we arrived at the Beach House. Incredible views... here we ate food cooked by the family buffet style, outdoor bar, pool, and steps down into the water. This is literally a large beach house in the middle of a neighborhood. Definitely felt safe and here we met Sergio and other members of the family. Hands down this was a great experience.

One of the best tours we have even experienced!! - First, let me state at the beginning, this is NOT a paid endorsement of Sergio’s Tours in Progreso, Mexico. Just an honest opinion of one of the best Tour Guide operations I have ever experienced. My wife and I have taken 8 cruises with private Tour Guides in cities/countries such as Rome, London, Barcelona, Edinburgh, Alaska, Scotland, Ireland and now Progreso. Here is where Sergio shines. I was looking for a tour operator that would provide a personalized tour for a group of 10. I wanted a separate van with a driver, etc. Sergio’s kept me informed weekly, and close to the port date, he kept me updated daily. I kept changing the numbers, from 8 to 9 to 10 back to 9 and back to 10. Not once did he balk or question my vacillation. Sergio gave us a detailed description of the tour, what we needed to bring, payment, etc. Nothing was left to the imagination. And lastly, he said that he would meet with us at 9am Ship Time. And at exactly 9am, Jesus showed up. Of course, we did the Mayan Ruins, but he also took us to a small salt mining facility. The ruins were great, but personally, learning about how they mined the salt was fascinating. And they actually allow members of our group to go out into the salt water beds and actually learn to mine. (Only one of the group was brave enough to try it). We then stopped at a local cenote swimming area, and lastly, he took us to his restaurant/beach resort where he fed us and provided an open bar. And wow, were the Margarita’s wonderful!!! Jesus was full of wonderful information as he was driving us from one place to another. If I had any complaint it would be that the van needs a sound system so everyone could hear Jesus. The folks in the back had a difficult time hearing Jesus. So, I cannot recommend Sergio’s Tours enough. They have, if I am not mistaken, 3 vans and one full size tour bus. When I read what the Ship offered in the way of excursions, there was NO comparison. Sergio’s went out of their way to provide us an incredible day in Progresso.

Excellent tour and excellent tour guides. - Beautiful A/C tour bus picked us up on time and made all of our destinations with plenty of time to enjoy. never felt rushed. Uvaldo is an amazing tour guide, very knowledgeable and shows great pride in his country and heritage. Sergio’s resort was clean, well appointed, very welcoming. Sergio and his staff were genuinely happy to have us and it showed. the food was above average. The best Ceviche i think i’ve ever had. Thank you Sergio, Uvaldo, Ricardo and every for an exceptional day

Highly Recommended Progresso Tour - Our tour experience was outstanding, and Jesus was an exemplary guide. He displayed remarkable attentiveness and knowledge during our visits to El Corchito's natural springs, the Salt Flats, and the ruins, where he shared the captivating history. The tour's finale at Sergio's Beach House included a rejuvenating swim in Progresso's stunning blue waters, a delightful buffet, and exceptional drinks courtesy of Manuel. Moreover, my friends benefited from affordable massages. Considering its family-owned status, I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

What a great variety in one excursion! - We had the best day with Jesus, the Grandson of Sergio. He showed us the true side of Progreso. The flamingos had moved due to high tide, but we still got to see them. The eco park was explained to us. We saw such great wildlife, but don’t take food! We thought the ruins would be the highlight of the trip. It was fantastic, but…. We then experienced the salt flats. We really felt that was a great intimate story. I ground salt and got to bring some home. We saw what salt production required by hand. It was very special. And finally we went to the beach and buffet at the family restaurant. That was fantastic. Beach, ocean and toys, pool, lunch, drinks and relaxation. Next time we say we will just go to the beach day at Sergio’s. It was such a special day. The food was authentic. Families were in the pool. Couples were having lunches. And then Jesus’ cousin started making drinks. The family was so kind. They are great hosts. They also rent rooms. October and February are good months to go for special events per Jesus. This was our best day on our cruise. No worries about getting back to the cruise. We picked our time to return. This trip made us fall in love with Progreso. Thank you, Jesus and family!

Amazing Experience with Uva the Tourguide - We booked this tour based on a recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint! Our tour guide Uva was AMAZING! He was super friendly and provided a lot of information at all of the the stops on the tour. The day of the tour we disembarked from the cruise ship, walked through the duty free mall area and he was waiting for us at the Information Booth. The driver (I think was Ricardo) was great as well. If you wish you can bring small US bills to purchase things along the way/give small tips. When we got through with our adventures, we went to Sergio's Beach house before they took us back to the pier. The food was delicious, the food was authentic and tasty, and the drinks were a highlight. The beach and the view were the highlight of my day! I celebrated my 41st with them and it couldn't have been a better day!

Best experience of our trip! - This was such an amazing excursion. Our tour guild Jesus was the best. This tour is advertised as small groups which was a great seller for us. It actually was only our family so we had a private tour. We also had a family member who was a little slow moving and he went above and beyond to make sure we could enjoy everything we wanted at the pace we could do. Not to mention my husband saw a man reading a paper and said it would be neat to have so Jesus also made that happen. We learned so much about Mexico that you dont hear about in the United States. I have and will recommend this tour to everyone who is traveling there. Oh and the food and drinks..it was absolutely amazing and probably some of the best food we had. Thank you for making our trip so enjoyable!

Not what we expected. In a bad way. - It was basic at best. The stuff was interesting but our guide was lackluster. Very little personality or interaction before taking off or driving (Jesus). We drove for 45 minutes to the ruins but along the way there was no conversation or details of what we were seeing or driving past. All we knew was we were heading to try ruins first. Then from stop to stop we didn’t really get much details on what we were about to see or do. We arrived, we got out, were told to walk and then boarded a boat or walked to the salt area with no additional details from him. He wasn’t unfriendly, just didn’t seem like a tour guide. Then we ended our trip at Sergio’s Beach house which wasn’t bad just not what we expected. Everyone there was fun and engaging but it was basic. It had a small beach area. Overall Progresso in general was very underwhelming.
