Great trip, excellent guide - Awesome experience. We originally booked this tour, but was contacted by the tour operator that due to a scheduling conflict we would be joining additional people, but received a free upgrade for a full-day tour including visiting a cacao farm and lunch. Just reviewing the Ecological Reserve part of the day, it was a great half-day with a super kind and friendly guide! Jaime is the man. The boat tour in the mangroves was really nice, and the hike was short but enjoyable with lots of howler monkeys, despite all the mosquitos (bring bug spray and long pants/shirts!). Overall a great trip with an exceptional guide, but recommend booking for the full-day tour with the cacao farm as well, instead of just the reserve!

Marvelous mangroves - Terrific adventure with a charming guide, Hymie. He picked us up from our hotel in Guayaquil and promptly told us to go back to our rooms and out on long pants and shirts to minimize mosquito bites. Great tip. Then he regaled us with stories of his service with the air force and Latam airlines. His English was fantastic and he was so considerate. He pointed out some fabulous fruit and fish markets along the way and then we met with a local guide, Carlos, required for the area. We had a hike of about 2 miles in a loop through the jungle spotting and hearing several packs of howler monkeys and native birds. Some interesting tarantula webs and flora too, including a tree that’s sap smells like garlic - a natural insect repellent. We then went on to the mangroves for a fun trip down the river. Our guides spotted a few shy caimans, fish, and birds galore. Fun day!

Nice trip - It was a nice experience. Saw a good number of birds and the mangroves were beautiful. However, I don't think it was worth the amount of money that I paid. Much too expensive for what was experienced.

Felt like you were walking in the jungle - Our guide was excellent and full of interesting information. Days before our trip they received a lot of rain. River was very high on our river. Due to high tide we did not see as many animals (alligators & etc) but we saw many beautiful birds. Still an enjoyable boat trip. Walking through the jungle to waterfall was fun but very hot. Bring water, bug spray and hiking shoes. As you will be climbing over rocks and stumps. The noise from the monkeys and other creatures made you feel you were truely waking in the jungle. We saw howling monkeys very high in the treetops. Due to rains part of the howling monkey path was closed. Tour guides did their best as there's not much we could do due weather related issues. In the end we really enjoyed our tour.
