Highlights
  • Al Sheehaniya Municipality - Camel racing, a sport historically associated with sheiks, still thrives today in the quaint village of Al Shahaniya. Located in the shimmering desert just west-north of downtown Doha, the Al-Shahaniya racing track hosts both domestic and international camel tournaments. A visit to this track offers an opportunity to witness camel training sessions and perhaps even catch a thrilling camel race. Additionally, you can explore a local farm, where you will be warmly greeted with traditional hot Arabic coffee or tea. Take a leisurely stroll around the farm to observe the feeding of livestock, witness small-scale cultivation, and experience the milking of goats. For a more immersive experience, embark on a brief village tour of shahaniya by bicycle. Should you desire, a delectable lunch or dinner can be arranged at an additional cost.

Great Desert Experience - Our guide was very accommodating & we had amazing fun! From riding the camels, taking pics with a falcon (not included in package, but only 20QAR), the ride in the vehicle Al through the desert, sandboarding, and visiting the sea that borders Saudi Arabia, each experience was unique. Going in the afternoon was a good choice as well bc the sunset was able to make the photos come out that much better. We would definitely do this again given the chance.

Shahania, FBQ and Texas A&M in Qatar - Sam was a very knowledgeable guide and showed us several other points of interest. FBQ museum only had 50 out of the 600 cars in display - disappointing.

A failed excursion - Very unprofessional excursion, we started at 15.00 which was too late for the second half of the excursion, Sheikh Faisal Museum. We watched camel training at the racetrack for 30 minutes from our van after which we tried to enter the museum that closed at 16.30, in other words we missed completely the second part of our excursion. In addition, our guide was not at all aware that the visit of the museum was included in our excursion. His poor English skills didn’t help in solving the problem either. When I asked for a refund from the tour operator Travel Designer WLL, they agreed to give only 15 % back of the price.

Horrible experience - Very disappointing excursion! The guide wasn’t at all aware that we had also paid for a visit of Sheikh Faisal museum in addition to Shahaniya Camel Racetrack. The excursion was scheduled to begin at 15.00 fixed by the company which meant that after having observed the camels for 30 minutes from a van it was too late to enter the museum that closed at 16.30. In other words we missed half of the program. The guide could hardly speak English which complicated the problem even more.

Bad experience, this in not a tour - Bad experience, this is not a tour. It would have been the same to take our own transportation (Uber, taxi) to get there and see the same thing (nothing). We watched the track race and the camels from the van for about 10-15 min and that was it. The operator was very kind but he knew little or nothing about the places visited, he did not even know that the tour included the entrance to the museum and it seemed that it was his first time visiting it. Don't waste your money on this tour, it's not worth it.
