Great private multi-city tour - My wife, Christine and I spent the last ten days of May, 2023 on a tour of Morocco organized by Susan Brink of ChasingStreetArt. Christine had visited Morocco briefly some ten years ago, but I had never been there, and both of us were quite ignorant about Moroccan history and culture. We were met at the Casablanca airport by Susan and Hicham, an experienced guide who spoke excellent English and drove us throughout the tour in his immaculate Toyota Land Cruiser. We visited the major cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Fez and Marrakech, each for a day or two, with tours led by local guides. We stayed in some western style hotels and in some riads—traditional Moroccan guest houses with rooms arranged around a central internal garden. The final stop was in Essaouira, an Atlantic coastal town with a magnificent beach and a very active fishing industry. In each city, Susan pointed out interesting examples of street art—large murals painted on walls or buildings. We explored both ancient labyrinthine walled medinas and the modern cities that surround them. Morocco is easily reached from Europe and over centuries has been subjected to occupation by Roman, Portuguese, French and other colonizers, each leaving evidence of having been there. It is now a modern, predominately Moslem kingdom, bursting with economic energy and very friendly to tourists. Whether your interest is chiefly in public artistic displays or is simply in visiting Morocco, the ChasingStreetArt tour program will provide a very satisfactory experience. Don Bartlett
