Highlights
  • Kings Landing - You’ll find it challenging to fully explore Kings Landing in just one trip - dare to take on the task! It’s a place with attractions for all tastes, especially for those eager to dive in and engage with the experience.

At its heart, Kings Landing is a historical museum. Boasting a collection of over 70,000 items, it stands as one of the most extensive repositories in Atlantic Canada. The narratives presented span a period of over 150 years, covering the Loyalist exodus during the American Revolution, the Victorian era, the inception of Canada, and the progression into the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum is divided into the Exhibit Experience and the Village. Upon entering, you’ll encounter a range of informative exhibits that shed light on the historical journey you’ll undertake in the Village. There’s also a dedicated Kid Zone and a starting point for our guided tours. The Village itself is a hive of activity, featuring actors in period attire who bring to life the diverse history of New Brunswick, complete with authentic historical dwellings and amiable farm animals.

Each day at Kings Landing offers a unique adventure, so make sure to consult our calendar for the latest schedule of events and activities.

Going back in time - The dedication of the folks there and that they actually cook, bake and eat at the houses. But sure glad I was born in modern times.

A Unique and Very Pleasant Place to Visit - After reading the review that said Kings Landing wasn't what it had previously been, we almost didn't visit. If we hadn't, we would have missed a very enjoyable day. There was a wonderful variety of buildings to visit, and the reenactors at each site knew their subjects and interacted well with visitors. The day we were at Kings Landing was very hot, and the carriage ride back to the visitors center was very welcome. If I am ever in the area, I will definitely visit Kings Landing again.

Kings Landing is a gem - Kings Landing is a gem. It is a loyalist village recreation put together from the houses that were expropriated when a damn was made on the St John river It is a working village and the people are in character. They farm, they look after animals, there is a working blacksmith shop, a water powered saw mill, many other activities. They have recently began putting some placards up explaining parts of the life, and a few buildings that are more museum like with people explaining the artifacts. Always a great experience. There is a working pub on site as well. It is a great family outing. Allow a whole day for your visit so you can enjoy it in a relaxed manner. Be ready to walk, it is spread out

EXCELLENT-EDUCATIONAL HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE - Kings Landing is an EXCELLENT experience. My wife and I visited here and the experience was wonderful. History is a great passion for us and Kings Landing is on the top of the list. Lots of places to see including historic homes, churches, general store, grist mill, and more, including farm animals, birds, etc. Kings Landing is a GREAT place to visit and wander through.

Excellent Learning Experience - Very knowledgeable and interesting guides. Unfortunately the sawmill could not run as there was no water due to the dry summer. Still an awesome visit. The kids picked their own apples with an antique apple picker. Recommend this for children to learn that things were not always as easy as they are now.

Going downhill fast - Years ago I couldn't say enough good things about king's landing. Now its a shell of. its former self. Used to be well staff with bustling activities, family meals, and life in every corner. Each house was fully staffed with an entire family. It has gone downhill greatly since the Pandemic. I visited last summer and this summer with family several times and saw a dramatic decline in quality. It is rare to see more then 1 worker in each house. Music, outdoor activities etc are rarely seen too. The workers struggle to provide historical information if you can manage to talk to them because the 1 person is busy with the other customers. Several buildings had staff that couldn't tell us anything about the building because they were just minding the house or a visiting relative. It is barely a museum anymore. 1990's and early 2000's were far far better with staff numbers, knowledge and life on the site. It would be nice to see it return to this.
