Highlights
  • St. Francis Of Assisi Church - St Francis Church is one of the most beautiful baroque churches of Prague.
You can find it at Křížovnické náměstí 3, Prague 1

Although the original baroque pews offer only 70 seats, it has long and important music tradition. This organ concert series runs continuously from 1993 to nowadays, yearly and daily from Easter to November, and it’s longest uninterrupted Prague Organ concert cycle.
Organ of St. Francis church is an important historic instrument built in 1702 by Master Abraham Stark from Elgbogen in Western Bohemia. Many famous musitians, as for example Amadeus Mozart or Antonin Dvorak, played this organ in the past. This rare organ is the second oldest in Prague, but oldest one you can hear at concert. In the year 2015 there was large and complicated reconstruction using the most modern technologies and methods of restoration and reparations, so this instrument is in excellent restored shape, and you can really enjoy a sound of genuine baroque organ in true baroque acoustic.

Magnificent warm concert - Yesterday we attended a magnificent concert with Mezzosoprano Barbora de Nunes Cambria, flautist Zofie Vokalkova and organist Drahomira Matznetova. It was wonderful. The soprano has an extraordinary voice that fills the church. The atmosphere was warm and they played again after the applause. The church is also very beautiful. I recommend you.

Nice performance in a beautiful church - The church was spectacular and the concert was very nice. Perfect length at about an hour. Venue was cold, but that’s expected in an old church at night in December. Dress warmly!

Organ concert - Panis Angelicus was fabulous. It would have been better if the violin and soloist were on the stage instead of in the balcony where we couldn't see them even though our seats were good.

Enjoy religious music in a solemn atmosphere - I enjoyed the beautiful music. I made a reservation online, so I was given a good seat. Therefore, if you have a set schedule, I recommend making a reservation. When I went, there were three women, a mezzo-soprano singer, and a pipe organ and violin performance. The reason I chose this place was because I wanted to hear the sound of the pipe organ. Since it was all religious music, I didn't know many songs, but I was impressed by the solemn atmosphere and the music dedicated to God. There is a pipe organ on the upper right, and most of the singing and playing is done there, so I recommend a seat on the left. The venue is right by the Charles Bridge, so it's very easy to find. People from various countries came to listen. It was summer, but perhaps because it was night, I didn't feel hot.

Average...the building, location and organ history are what made it worth it. - Building was gorgeous. Musicians (3, sproano, organist and violin) were playing in the veranda, so you couldn't see them, only hear them. Only after 30 minutes the soprano came down with the violinist. It started with Tocata and Fuge...and unfortunately not a very good rendition. It was alright, given the price point...you get what you pay for type deal. It was ok, but wouldn't repeat the experience.
