Highlights
  • Prasna brana - In the first part, we will introduce the three phases of alchemy, conceived as the science of inner transformation and not only of metals in gold, therefore we will mention the black, white and red phase (nigredo, albedo, rubedo) that distinguish the process of this royal art. The path is designed in such a way that the main esoteric symbols that we will encounter will allow us to talk about the first phase in black, especially at the beginning, when we will see the Powder Tower and the black Madonna of the city.

  • Obecni Dum - The Municipal House and some other buildings are relevant to the history of Czech Freemasonry and the nation. They allow us a symbolic introduction to Prague, the Czech people and also to approach the esoteric discourse about symbols and their importance.

  • The Black Sun Restaurant - The building, located in the very central Prague street, presents the esoterically controversial symbol of the black sun. The first quotes about this sun “hidden”, “occult” or even preceding the sun itself are found in ancient Egyptian texts, in Orphic cults and more. For most esotericists, this is a definition of Saturn, known by the ancient Babylonians as the “lord of the rings”. In many alchemical and hermetic treatises, the planet was also called “sol”, as it was customary to define it in Babylon. The esoteric symbology linked to Saturn-Cronus frequently returns within initiation rites and in religious and state institutions, it is the planet strongly linked to the alchemical “black phase” and hides a whole series of interesting connections.

  • Staromestske namesti - The church of Tyn, which dominates the old town square, will lead us to talk about the medieval Bohemian Hussites and their leader Jan Hus, who was burned as a heretic.
The explanation will revolve around the symbolic importance of the “chalice”, both from the perspective of Bohemian revolutionary Hussitism, and from the purely symbolic and esoteric one.
The Cup also understood as the Holy Grail.
In the church lie the remains of the Danish astronomer Tycho De Brahe.

  • Old Town Hall with Astronomical Clock - The town hall was established in 1338 as the seat of the autonomous administration of the Old Town. The oldest part of the complex is the Gothic one, where the astronomical clock resides. The neo-Gothic eastern wing was destroyed during the Prague Uprising of 1945 and has never been rebuilt.

  • Prague Astronomical Clock - Among the oldest and most elaborate astronomical clocks in Europe, this monument with fascinating esoteric symbolism offers interesting details to observe. Its dial shows us three different times at the same time (ancient Babylonian, medieval Prague and Roman), the distance between the earth, the sun and the moon, as well as the sidereal time and the lunar phase of the day. Allegorical baroque statues complete the ensemble, symbolizing some sins, some subjects taught in the city university, the archangel Michael and finally death. Zodiac signs, agricultural allegories, great planetary movements and legends are linked to this clock, miraculously reconstructed after the Second World War.

  • Dum U Minuty - We will observe this building which is a typical example of Bohemian Renaissance architecture and whose decorations are full of esoteric and hermetic references.
The famous French hermeticist Alleau compared this building to the French one richest in alchemical symbolism: the Lallemant palace in Bourges.
Franz Kafka lived there part of his childhood with his parents and sisters.
The decoration presents evocative images of Roman myths and the Old Testament: we will admire a symbolic image of the myth of Genesis, another that symbolically deals with the birth of our galaxy and still others that instead recall the Bacchanalia.

  • Nova radnice - The New Town Hall, the central administrative building of Prague, is located in the center of the Old Town.
In front of the palace, the work of the secessionist sculptor Saloun portrays Rabbi Judah Löw, one of the main representatives of the European Jewish tradition and linked to the legend of the Golem.
Buried in the cemetery of the old ghetto, the great scholar lived in this city at the end of the 16th century. A cabal expert, imitating the same operations of the Adamic creation, he created a humanoid giant that was to protect the ghetto from Christian assaults. In its etymology, the name “Golem” allows us a fascinating foray into the myth of genesis, as the clay on which Yahweh modeled Adam was called. That clay is another name for the shapeless primordial matter, the “raw” material of alchemy.
Finally, the name of the rabbi himself will lead us back to the royal family of Judea, whose symbolism is present in some heraldic details of the European nobility.

  • Faceless Knight - The Faceless Horseman stands guard outside the Prague City Hall. The story goes that this killed his mistress in furious rage and as a punishment he was buried alive in stone.

  • Klementinum - Passing through the Clementinum complex (now the National Library) we will talk about the Jesuits, declared enemies of the Freemasons, who founded their first Prague college here.
In 1556 they arrived in the city for the first time, summoned to fight, also culturally, the rising phenomenon of citizen Protestantism.
Inside the complex we will see the oldest fixed meteorological observation post, continuously in operation since 1752, as well as a sundial for counting the hours.

  • Church of St. Anne-Centrum Prazska Krizovatka - The current church and monastery of Sant’Anna from 1232 housed the first Templar commenda, then called “Jerusalem”. This place allows you to further explore the theme of these knight-priests, born with the aim of regaining control of the temple of Solomon in the Holy City, taking a cue from the symbolism peculiar to them, from the knowledge that this order acquired, perhaps linked to the intriguing mystery of the “Radix Davidis”, from the encounter he had in the Middle East with the spirituality of Muslim Sufis, from the banking system he created in Europe and from its clandestine survival even after the suppression of 1312. The internal order was composed of initiates who recognized a higher and an inferior God (Baphomet), just like the first Christian Gnostics and the Rosicrucians who were the most probable prosecutors. They are also responsible for the cult of the famous “black Madonnas”.
