Additional Information

Explore a pillar of Czech heritage and join us for a 5 hours tour to one of the globe’s most frequented castles. Established in the 14th century by Charles IV, Karlštejn acted as the storage site for the Empire’s coronation jewels, sacred artifacts, and royal treasures. After ascending the hill that the castle stands upon, you’ll be struck by the grandness of this Gothic masterpiece. The tour involves an hour-long exploration of the castle interiors, guided by a local expert.

Great guide - Had a very good time. The tour guide was great, jarka is her name, I think that is how it is spelled. I wish there was more of the castle to explore but the views are great.

LOVED IT - Wonderful easy 1/2 day castle trip, Karlstejn is beautiful -such a classic castle with great history, very enjoyable tour & knowledgeable guide spoke 5 languages! Nice easy pace, with a great little Czech restaurant for meeting point at the end & time to get food. Perfect way to spend a morning outside the city .

Basic tour - Pick-up and travel went smoothly in a comfortable 20-passenger coach and the tour guide did an acceptable, but not exceptional job. The castle offers three different tours: this package included the basic tour. Had we known of the other tours that included access to more of the castle, we would have tried to find a trip package that included that access.

our excursion cancelled - We had a 1pm tour, and it was cancelled the day before. They tried to arrange it for earlier in the day or for the next day, but we couldn't do either so we had them refund our money. We assumed that the castle was open the next day so we took a train there to visit on our own at a time that worked for us. Turns out the castle is closed on Mondays. Nobody told us that so it was a total waste of time and money on a tightly scheduled trip.
