Additional Information

Join us for a unique experience at the non-touristic Santo da Serra farmers market, a favored spot among local ‘madeirenses’ due to its affordable prices. This bustling locale is packed with ‘country delights’ including exclusive fruits, traditional pastries, homemade liqueurs, and the local garlic bread, ‘bolo do caco’. This tour includes a stop at the Christ the King statue, an impressive viewpoint that overlooks Funchal, and takes you through the rural back roads to local villages where farming is still done by hand. Our 4x4 tour rolls through these locations: Garajau - São Pedro - Aguas Mansas - Lamaceiros - Santo da Serra (traditional market) - Machico.

Fun Time! - We had a terrific time with Nelson! He accommodated our diverse group and provided a solid overall introduction to life on his island home. We had a blast off roading and eating our way thru the farmers markets!

So much fun - Had a great afternoon visiting the farmers markets but the highlight was off roading and getting a “Madeiran Massage” in the 4x4. It was absolutely exhilarating and the views were beautiful. Lino was a fantastic guide and driver and taught us a lot about the history of the island. He was funny, informative, and made the experience so much fun! Highly recommend for a half day excursion!

Great trip to the Market - Lino made our trip very enjoyable and informative. He explained many things about the island we wouldn’t have learned on our own. We Will definitely take a tour again with him.

Memorable morning - I think the details of this trip need an update. We didn’t quite do this itinerary. As a result we were not prepared for off road but was expecting a more leisurely sunday market trip. We still had a good time. Shame we didn’t do all the stops advertised but all in all it was a memorable morning with more thrills than we were ready for
