After a quick energy boost, embark on a 20 to 30-minute easy-moderate walk to the 12th-century ruins of the Castle and Walls of Monsanto, featured in the HotD series. At the mountain’s summit, marvel at the incredible natural rock formations and the 850-year-old ruined walls. Explore the mountain and be captivated by the grandeur of this mythical site that brings homeland, drama, romance, and life to key characters, Princess Rhaenyra and Prince Daemon Targaryen. As you explore, you’ll recognize at least the Top 3 most majestic scenes of Dragonstone, set against Monsanto’s breathtaking natural backdrops:

• Historic Village of Monsanto - After experiencing these mythical and epic scenarios, you’ll be amazed by the place and begin your walk to the medieval village, seemingly frozen in time. Lose yourself in the narrow, picturesque streets of Monsanto, a remarkably well-preserved medieval village known as the village of stone due to its unique stone houses, and considered the most Portuguese village in Portugal.

• Monsanto - It’s time for lunch. Although not included in the tour program, time is allocated for lunch, and it’s recommended to enjoy it at one of the few local restaurants or picnic-style in a pleasant outdoor spot nearby. Once your tour is booked, these details will be arranged for you.

• Castelo de Almourol - On the return journey to Lisbon, after lunch and with plenty to discuss, an extra treat awaits. A quick detour to the riverside offers a chance to relax, perhaps enjoy a drink, and admire the intriguing location of the 850-year-old Castle of Almourol. This impressively preserved castle, dating back to the early Templars, is situated on a rocky islet of Portugal’s longest and most famous river, the Tagus. Note: This tour does not include an interior visit to Almourol Castle. This stop is solely for appreciating the castle from the shore and learning about its history.

• Lisbon - By this time, you’ll be back in the Lisbon area, reminiscing about the day’s highlights and selecting the most Instagrammable photos from this experience. Expect to return to your hotel around 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Be amazed and immerse yourself in the scenic fantasy world of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, while also learning about local landmarks.
