Terrific Guide! - We had toured portions of Porto earlier in the day with a large tour group, primarily via bus. Decided on something more intimate and informative and boy were we right. Our guide Maria was both charming and informative. She was enthusiastic about her job and her energy was refreshing and contagious. Whole-heartedly recommend this excursion and be sure to request Maria!

Wonderful and interesting tour - Taissa was a great guide. My friend and I were late because we got turned around and couldn’t get to the meeting place and Taissa came to find us. One she did, she was great! She was both friendly and interesting. I definitely recommend this tour and particularly Taissa!

Comprehensive & beautiful. - Lia was a wonderful guide. The starting point was easy to find and was very organized. The walking tour of Porto is comprehensive and therefore A LOT of steps. We loved it. The views from various vistas were breathtaking. We were able to see the Douro and surrounding cities from high elevations and also made it to the riverside. She kindly gave us a list of things to do and restaurants after the tour. The group was small and manageable (only 11 people). Would recommend.

Very glad we did this !! - Alex from Blue Dragon was great. Plenty of information , and while some of the hills were moderately steep he always kept a manageable pace. Even folks over 65 in moderate shape were fi e. Alex made it fun and also shared a number of other recommendations. This isn't the cheapest tour you can find, but I think it's well worth the $. Would definitely recommend this tour at the start of your Porto stay.

Just right! - This was just right. We had been in Porto for a few days before the tour and this brought a lot of things together and connected the dots. Our guide, Freida, was super knowledgeable about the history of the region and the country. Very enjoyable and a valuable piece of our over all trip.

Beautiful Porto - The tour was fabulous! Christibol was a wonderful guide. He was so knowledgeable about Portugal…the history, the politics, the food. He took care that we walked in the shade and had the least hilly route. Wonderful introduction to the beautiful city of Porto!

Great guide, not great company - Wonderful guide (Angelica), super sweet and positive. But I don’t think clients should need to wait 15+ minutes (on a 3 hour tour) for late guests. And then we finally leave, and 5 minutes later the company required Angelica to run back to the start, while we wait, for the latecomers. Not good.

Wished we had spent time taking a self directed walking tour using our Lonely Planet tour book of Portugal - We had taken a walking tour in Lisbon and really enjoyed it, so we looked forward to the same experience in Porto. Unfortunately, this walking tour was disappointing. Even the beginning of the tour was mild chaos, as the meeting point at the Blue Dragon office was full of tourists departing on bike tours. It seemed that walkers and bikers were departing at the same time. You could not register with your walking guide but had to fight your way up to the registration counter. We had a lovely and sweet guide named Marta who was a welcoming host. The itinerary highlights were interesting, and Marta provided lots of history stories along the route. The problem for us was that we missed a lot of the commentary. There was a lot of city renovation construction going on, street music and traffic noises. Marta tried to overcome the background din, but she seriously needed a microphone. The tour began to get a little boring because we were walking about looking at sites without a point of reference. Also, the tour description says that a small amount of walking is required but in our opinion, that is a misrepresentation. There is a lot of walking required and the itinerary was ambitious without any scheduled nutrition or toilet breaks. Porto is very hilly and the walking is not easy for those not accustomed to such ups and downs. In fact, 3 people in our group dropped out of the tour part way. The tour description suggests that the tour would end in Ribeiro, near the riverfront where there are lots of lunch options, a market and easy access to the Louis I bridge to take us across the Duoro River to the Port Wine Houses. Since the tour ended at 1:00, this was an ideal location. Our route took us to the waterfront as a morning stop. Our last stop was at a store to sample jam/ tamponade type products sold in tubes. There was a group tasting there. We really had no interest in this product. This store location was west/central and about a block from the Blue Dragon tour office. If we wanted to return to more popular tourist areas, we would have to back track at a substantial distance. We had already been walking 3 hours at this point and were wanting lunch and a cold beer.
