This activity is designed to offer a comprehensive tour of Porto’s central region, highlighting significant events that shaped the city’s LGBTQIAP+ history. It is led by a gay local who has lived these events throughout his 37 years. The focus of this personal experience is on the societal progression and awareness of the LGBTQIAP+ community over time and how the city began its path to inclusion.
Together, we’ll embark on a journey recalling events and examining the contrast between two periods in LGBTQIAP+ history: from the 80s to the present.
We’ll explore various tourist locations that, upon first look, may not seem related to the community, and we’ll tour inclusive spaces.
The tour concludes with a discussion at one of Porto’s well-known locations, providing a deeper understanding of the activism and heritage of those who battled to ensure this tour could exist today in an openly gay manner.
