Highlights
  • Around Portland Tours - We’ll start by fitting you for bikes at our shop at 833 SE Main Street #121, before we head out on the day’s excursion.
  • Ladd’s Addition - In the Ladd’s Addition neighborhood is the heart of the original food cart scene and we’ll set the scene by trying some of our favorite coffee and discussing our route for the day.
  • Matt’s BBQ Tacos - One of the most iconic sorts of food carts in Portland is a fusion between traditional cuisines. Matt’s is one of the ultimate: take Southern US-style barbecue and place it in the best tacos anywhere. (For vegan and vegetarian guests, we’ll choose a different but equally awesome first stop!)
  • Hawthorne - Hawthorne Boulevard is part of our hometown story: the heart of all that’s delicious, funky, and hippie, a thoroughfare with a street food soul! We’ll ride into our personal and the city’s foodie history (this goes back over a century!) and stop at a special coffee food cart made in a unique vehicle. Here we’ll get some caffeinated beverage (if that’s what you like) to begin our day!
  • Scout Beer Tap House - We’ll ride up in the direction of Mt. Tabor (one of four extinct volcanoes within the city’s core!) toward another food cart pod, this one the descendant of our dearest departed collections of food cart – RIP Tidbit. Luckily the carts themselves live on, especially some fun and beautifully executed versions of favorite snacks from our childhood. These are made with sustainable ingredients, interesting and delicious flavor combinations, so we’ll sample these and maybe we’ll teach you a few new words, too!
  • CARTOPIA FOOD CARTS - Cartopia was the first-ever permanent food cart pod in the city! This one is the epicenter of the food cart craze. We’ll talk about how the food cart explosion began (a story told uniquely by us) and visit either Cartopia or its next door neighbor, the Hawthorne Asylum.

Additional Information

The renowned food carts of Portland are distributed across the city’s five (now six) divisions, counting more than 600 in total, arranged in over 60 clusters — assemblies of food carts! Our journey commences at our location, 833 SE Main Street #121, where we’ll equip you with one of our lightweight bikes and lead you on an 8-12 mile (11-17 km) gastronomical adventure through some of our most loved chefs and producers, tasting everything from locally-sourced Oregon delicacies to snacks perfect for midnight munchies.

We highlight locally-operated enterprises with remarkable narratives; we’ll direct you to some of our go-to spots, many of which played a pivotal role in shaping the existing food cart culture. Without these distinct and devoted individuals, Portland’s culinary bounty as we know it may have been halved. Anticipate tastes and blends that narrate not only a food story, but also a cultural tale. Bicycles, helmets and abundant food samples are provided.

We maintain a small group size, allowing for a personalized encounter with your enthusiastic guides!

One of the Best Food Tours We Have Been On! - This was the most fun we’ve ever had on a food tour! Kelly was a fantastic guide and one of the easiest people to talk to I have ever met! The food carts we visited were delicious and we ate more food than I have ever gotten on a food tour. No tiny sample - enough for a meal. The biking part was a lot of fun, even for a slightly out of shape 60yo! I highly recommend this tour. You will get a great tour of Portland and visit some fantastic food carts.

What an amazing experience! - It was a rainy and cooler day, but that didn’t stop Kelly from giving us one of the best experiences we had in Portland! There were just 4 of us on the tour. Kelly offered gloved to those who didn't have them, as we were biking in 40 degree weather. She said she constantly scouts out routes for the tours and made sure, with is being a bit out of shape that she kept an eye on when my husband had to stop going uphill (she said they do have one ebike if its really needed). The route she took us on was through a beautiful section of town where the slight uphill was first on the tour. After a certain point, everything was wither downhill or flat on the tour. We stopped off at 3 different "pods" (parking lots with food trucks). Kelly had us get drinks at the first one and we had a delicious cannoli. There was a tent with heaters in it to warm up a bit. Second place we stopped at was a newer pod of trucks with a beautiful permanent structure that we went into as Kelly got plentiful amounts of food for us to try. The last place we went to was an old Asylum that had been changed to house the food trucks. There we had an amazing waffle. Kelly was extremely knowledgeable and kind. Overall we would highly recommend this tour!!

Awesome tour…but don’t eat breakfast before. - This was so fun! …even with the slightly uncomfortable food baby I ended up with. I can’t complain because it was my choice to finish the whole waffle at the end. Our guide, Kelly, was so awesome and almost had me convinced to ditch my car at home and just ride my bike. I loved riding through the neighborhoods and felt completely safe on the route. The selection of beverages and food from the different pods was outstanding. The cannoli!!! The cauliflower!!! The tacos!!! Highly recommend.

Delicious and fun - A wonderful way to visit multiple food pods that are hidden from tourists. On my tour, we tasted coffee, cannoli, tacos, breakfast potatoes, mac and cheese, Korean bolgogi, dessert waffles and a refreshing tea. Half way through, we were very stuffed already so paddling was perfect for us. The city is very friendly to bikers, so my worry about riding on street with my kids was silly. Our guide, Kelly, was friendly and fun.

Great Food and Fun - This tour definitely exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to explore Portland and eat some great food. We had some of the best food that we've ever had on a tour and by the end we felt like we were hanging out with friends cruising around to different food pods like a local. If you want an authentic local experience, this is definitely the way to go.
