- Hair of the Dog Brewing Company - We’ll walk about 3/4 mile through the Central Eastside Industrial District (now home to food manufacturers, local restaurants, distilleries, wineries, coffee roasters and tea makers too!) to Hair of the Dog Brewing, one of the oldest craft breweries in Portland and one of the first on the West Coast to experiment with barrel aging. The experiments continue; every day Hair of the Dog picks a special aged barrel to tap. We’ll try one from the wood, as they say, as well as one of the brewery’s classic beers. Need a snack? Try the pickle plate, one of the most interesting in the city, or the delicious Brussels sprouts.

Our intimate Eastside Craft Brewery walking tour takes you to the side of Portland that has always been the epicenter of creativity. We operate from the heart of Eastside, a hub packed with breweries both new and established. The tour navigates through an industrial district rich in food and art culture, journeying through the historical and modern aspects of Portland’s craft brewing tradition.
Portland, holding the record of the highest number of breweries, was a pioneer in the craft beer scene. No matter your beer preference – sours, barrel-aged crafts, Belgians, Wits, or Imperial IPAs? Maybe you’re a fan of fresh hops, dry hops, or even no hops? – You’re certain to find a brewery that has made that style its specialty. All these styles flourish in our neighborhood, where Around Portland tours are based.
The tour entails 2-3 miles of walking that includes just enough beer tasting to help you decide which circuit you’d love to revisit. We always maintain small groups to ensure a personal and engaging encounter with your enthusiastic guides!
