39210 Historic Columbia River Hwy - From majestic vistas to lush waterfalls, from forests to historic roadways, from tourist highlights to secret spots. We bike past trailheads and wineries, cherry orchards and wildernesses.
The activity will include about six hours of riding with the option for some short hikes along the way and about 40 - 90 minutes of travel each way from Portland (depending on your group we may start and end at the same spot, or do a one-way journey).
After meeting at our shop, we’ll fit you for bikes and head toward Chanticleer Point, doing either a one-way bike ride from that viewpoint and high spot at about 800 feet, down past waterfalls like Multnomah Falls with short visits to get photos, out onto the protected bicycle/pedestrian pathway for a dozen or more miles, and from there either continuing toward the amazing vista of Rowena Crest with a little help from a van shuttle or turning around and going back up one of the most storied but approachable climbs we know. We will stop for lunch (with optional wine, cider or beer) or pick up a picnic lunch on the way

It’s difficult to pick a more beloved adventure than cycling through the Columbia River Gorge for us. The biking experience in this region is globally acclaimed, and it’s evident why it’s among less than twelve locations worldwide that boast a Peloton-guided scenic ride. And we get to enjoy that in the flesh! Our ride will span anywhere from 35 to 60 miles (60 - 100 km), influenced by your preferences and the group’s makeup, featuring numerous ascents and descents. Rest assured though, all of them sport mild slopes and remain at lower altitudes (never exceeding 900 feet / 300 meters). As an alternative, E-bikes can be used.
Our adventure here poses a thrilling challenge, but not an insurmountable one; from one side of the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Highway to the opposite end, or a round trip from a breathtaking viewpoint, traversing a picturesque highway, eventually leading to a dedicated bike/pedestrian trail. Regardless, we’ll tread some of the most scenic roads in the nation and stop by stunning waterfalls like Multnomah and Horsetail Falls.
Lunch will be self-arranged, but we’ll gladly share our recommendations.
