Listen to the intriguing, unexpected, and utterly incredible stories from your local guide, stories widely omitted from history books. Prepare yourself to explore a new perspective of what Portland and Maine used to be and can become.

Surrounded by charming Victorian-style architecture and with the cobblestone pavement under your feet, we will casually meander around Portland’s verdant, historical Old Port towards the shimmering Casco Bay. We’ll visit the historical sites where Indigenous Wabanaki leaders first met European settlers and walk through history together.

The Perfect Start to Discovering Portland, Maine - What a wonderful introduction to Portland, Maine! My husband and I absolutely loved this tour. Dugan is a highly talented tour guide, and his love for his hometown is nothing short of contagious. The breadth and depth of his knowledge and the humor and creativity with which he shares that knowledge renders every nugget of hidden history akin to breaking a secret code in the city's private archives. No stone goes unturned. It's easy to fall in love with Portland and this tour expedites the fall with wisdom and panache. Don't miss out!

Jam-packed history at a great pace - Highly recommend Dugan and his 2-hr walking tour of Portland. Destructive fires, the canning industry, architecture, Margaret Chase Smith and much, much more, spanning 4 centuries of Portland’s history complete with interesting photos and obscure tidbits. Pace of the walk was easy. History-packed with a touch of humor and plenty of time for questions.

Fires! Who knew? - Dugan was knowledgeable, personable, and funny. He centered his story around the multiple fires that periodically devastated Portland. That, and the city's role in American history. Learned lots.
