- Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse - The cliffs at Ponta da Piedade headland are among the most stunning natural attractions in the Algarve. This striking limestone coastline features sea pillars, delicate rock arches, and concealed grottos, all sculpted by fierce winter storms.
- Cape Saint Vincent - As the most south-westerly point in mainland Europe, this rugged and imposing Cape has been revered as sacred ground for centuries. The ancient Greeks referred to it as the ‘Land of Serpents’, while the Romans chose a gentler name: Promontorium Sacrum (‘Holy Promontory’), which is the Latin root of ‘Sagres’ (from Sacrum). For the Romans, who preferred solid ground, Cape St. Vincent was the ‘Edge of the World’, a mystical place where the setting sun seemed to vanish into the vast, unknown ocean. Even today, the sun appears larger and brighter as it sets at Cape St. Vincent. This myth endured through the Middle Ages until Prince Henry the Navigator dispelled such notions, marking the end of the Age of Darkness.
- Sagres - Sagres reached its peak of global significance in the 15th century, thanks to Prince Henry the Navigator. He made Sagres his residence and the site of his navigation school. The school produced notable figures like Fernao de Magalhaes (Magellan), Pedro Alvares Cabral, and Vasco da Gama, whose influence is still felt worldwide. It was from nearby Belixe that the first caravels set sail, initiating Portugal’s Age of Discoveries and shaping the nation’s identity.
- Lagos - Lagos is a historic and charming city located on the stunning Western Algarve. It boasts a rich maritime heritage and a coastline of breathtaking natural beauty, making it one of the Algarve’s premier holiday destinations.
Fortunately, Lagos has not fallen victim to mass tourism and retains its unique character and charm. Within the historic center, visitors will find a proud Portuguese city with cobbled streets, authentic restaurants, and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Fabulous day with Gabriel touring Lagos & Sagres - I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see more than just Lagos & Sagres. The tour started out with Gabriel picking us up at our hotel exactly on time. He had a comfortable van for our day's adventure. Our first stop was Ponta da Piedade where we had plenty of time to walk the footpaths above the cliff tops and take the stairs leading to a very picturesque cove. We next drove to Cape St. Vincent (the end of the world) and enjoyed a beautiful time walking along the cliffs and the lighthouse grounds.Gabriel then drove us to Sagres for lunch in a small local restaurant where we selected our fish to be cooked over an outdoor charcoal grill while waiting with a cold beer. After lunch we toured around Sagres on our way to Lagos. Gabriel parked in a spot that took us through the walls of the city and through the old town. It was a very beautiful city to see. On the way back to Albufiera, we had a few other stops that Gabriel recommended to enjoy the scenario. Although this tour was seven hours, it went by very quickly as Gabriel is able to converse on any subject. If you're looking to get out of Faro or Albufiera for the day, this is the tour and company for you.
