A Journey Through the North Coast Mountains

The day began with a warm welcome from our guide, who greeted us at the hotel with a friendly smile and a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. As we set off on our journey, the bustling cityscape of Port of Spain gradually gave way to the lush greenery of the North Coast Mountains. The drive was a scenic delight, with the winding roads offering glimpses of the Caribbean Sea peeking through the dense foliage.

Our first stop was the La Vigie Paramin Lookout, perched at an impressive 2000 feet above sea level. The panoramic views from the summit were nothing short of breathtaking. The city of Port of Spain lay sprawled below us, while the vast expanse of the Caribbean Sea stretched out to the horizon. It was a moment of pure tranquility, a reminder of the natural beauty that the Caribbean has to offer.

Discovering Maracas Beach

After soaking in the views, we continued our journey to Maracas Beach, a hidden gem nestled on the north side of Trinidad. The drive to the beach was an adventure in itself, with the road winding through the mountains and offering stunning vistas at every turn. As a former professional surfer, the sight of the deep bay and sandy shores of Maracas Bay was a thrilling one. The beach is protected by a natural bay, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing swim or a leisurely stroll along the shore.

With two hours of free time, I took the opportunity to explore the beach and its surroundings. The sound of the waves crashing against the shore was music to my ears, and the warm sand beneath my feet was a comforting reminder of the island life I love so much. I even managed to catch a few waves, relishing the familiar thrill of surfing in such a beautiful setting.
