Amazing Beauty, Excellent Tour! - This was our first trip to Madeira, and our jeep tour with Tiago was a major highlight. He picked us up in the town where we were staying and we enjoyed a wonderful 8 hours with he and another couple. Being a local, Tiago gave us a great taste of life, food, culture and highlights on the island. The beauty of this island is stunning from the crystal blue water and waterfalls, to the rainforest like mountaintops. Thank you Tiago for making our trip so memorable!

A very pleasant day - A wonderful day spent exploring the West side of Madeira. Fabio was a great guide and showed us parts of the island we would never had found by ourselves. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants a great experience of Madeira.

Excellent Madeira West 4x4 road trip. - Fantastic trip with Fabio as our guide. He was very informative and an excellent driver, giving us all good advice, especially at Fanal Forest where it could have been easy to get lost with the clouds rolling in.

Amazing views, great service. - This is our second trip to this beautiful Island. We came back as we loved it so much. We used Hit the road 2 years ago and we booked weigh them again. Hugo was our guide and like last time he was wonderful. Island is becoming busy with tourists. He took us to different areas and at the perfect time to avoid the busy tourists areas.

Amendable routes based on your desire - Hit the Road Tours is an excellent tour group for anyone looking to explore the island of Madeira, Portugal, to better understand the lay of the land. The tour gave me a better understanding of where I wanted to visit and where I want to stay in the future. Like a recon mission of the island. Fabio the tour guide was born to be a tour guide. He is helpful and provides an honest perspective of life on the island. What makes this tour group stand out from others is that they are not beholden to a set itinerary or route. Tour guides are at the liberty to change routes based on your requests. Guides can change routes to avoid bad weather and big crowds. Highly recommended!

A cornucopia of interesting places visited. - A great varied tour. The vehicle was comfortably able to take us through some marvellous scenery up tracks that would be inaccessible for ordinary hire cars. There were plenty of opportunities for a comfort stop on this full day tour. A table was reserved for lunch in Port Moniz (cost not included) and was good. One of our party opted for a swim off the beach at Seixal, and was not alone as many visitors and locals took the opportunity in the calm sea. Our final call was to the Tasquinha da Poncha in Sierra de Agua, for a traditionally made glass of Poncha (not from a bottle!) Do try the Fishermans Poncha. Our driver was Victor, and I hope we have him on our next tour (next year).

A great introduction to Madeira - I took the Sunrise and West tours with Hit The Road during my short stay in Madeira. Received a confirmation message for the sunrise tour the evening before despite the changing weather conditions. Fernando was our guide who picked us up from the hotel on time. As we were driven towards the viewing spot near the Areeiro peak, the weather had worsened (it was snowing and paths were icy) so we made the decision to switch location with better visibility. We were driven to a quieter spot by the coast at a lower altitude on the south side of the island where we got an amazing view of the sunrise. We also made a couple of unscheduled stops for some photos and a coffee at a local cafe along the way, where we chatted about the island's history and recent political events. It was a nice introduction to the island so no complaints there. I also booked the West tour but ended up being the only guest on the group as there were last minute cancellation by the other parties. Unclear if the tour was going to run, I got in touch with Jeff the owner to look for an alternative solution. But as it was going to be my last day on the island, I would not have been able to do another tour so Jeff ran the tour for me anyway which I very much appreciated. I got a private tour of some of the beautiful spots on the west side of the island with Fabio the guide, who was very friendly and professional. He customised parts of the trip according to my preferences and made sure I was comfortable throughout. I recommend Hit The Road tours and will happily experience the island with them again.

Fabio -lous - Don't usually do reviews... so writing this means it must have been a great experience. We did two days with Fabio (East and West tours). Highly recommend this company and Fabio. "Hit the Roads" is like having a family member or close friend drive you around to see the sights. Fabio knew the shortcuts to get around and how/when to get to places to avoid the crowds. Coffee/Lunch and Poncha stops were less touristy spots allowing us to get a better feel for the island and its people. Highly recommended.

Excellent experience - Wanted to do this trip as I’d been before with Hugo to do the East trip 8 years ago. Came with my two sons and I wanted them to share the experience of Madeira and especially Hit the Road. We weren’t disappointed. Tiago picked us up and took us to so many places, up high and down to the coast. Both my sons enjoyed it very much and want to return again with my grandchildren. I would highly recommend booking with Hit the Road Madeira. The guides are so knowledgeable and such fun. Thank you Tiago for another memorable trip.
