Embark on a journey through time in the ancient city amidst its historical ruins! Initiating our expedition from the city’s main entrance, Porta Marina Superiore, without any waiting in line. Gazing towards the volcanic Mount Vesuvius, we’ll traverse through the antiquarium, displaying a range of artifacts unearthed in recent excavations, such as a game-changing coin altering the date of eruption, and an exquisitely heavy golden armlet. Next in our itinerary is the expansive Basilica, bustling Forum and its market, and the principal temples. Our stroll continues along the Greater Decumanus offering close-up views of the thermal baths and the intriguing Lupanare. Numerous stunning domus awaiting our exploration, some among them freshly opened. We will then saunter along via dell’Abbondanza leading to the so-called ‘Garden of the Fugitives’, which bears witness to the tragic events of those who sought refuge during the disastrous eruption, showcased through poignant molds. Finally, we’ll arrive at the Great Gymnasium that houses an assortment of everyday artifacts, and conclude our tour at the grand Amphitheatre.
