Wandering Pompeii - Very quick and easy to exchange the voucher for tickets, maps and guide book. We followed Rick Steves audio tour which allowed us to follow his highlights and also use the guide book for additional stops. I liked being able to stop, go and “divert” instead of following a large guided tour. I highly recommend going early to avoid the large guided groups if you’re game to download Rick Steve’s free audio tours. The guided tours I’m sure are very knowledgeable but the jam the narrow streets and tour guides at times will not let you pass. The weather and temperature this time of year was perfect and the crowd size was manageable.

Skip the line tickets worth doing, overall experience was excellent - Getting the tickets was very easy, and skipping the line was a great idea as we just went straight in with no queueing at all.once in the site it was amazing, one tip is to take lots of rest in any shade you can find as was very hot.and also take a reusable bottle as there is a couple of water fountains you can use.overall trip was excellent and will probably go again to see all the bits we missed probably when it’s not as hot.

A great day in Pompeii with Ciro G. - We joined a guided tour with a big group at the entrance. Ciro Garofalo was a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgable and fun. He eagerly answered every question anyone had with enthusiasm. He helped transporting us back 2000 years to see what life was like in Pompeii showing us everything from food stalls to explaining the sewage system. On top on that he handled weather issues(hail and rain!), technical headphone problem and managing the group's pace professionally. Pompeii on its own is already magnificent but having someone provide context, pointing out things to look for make such a difference. Our time was limited but we could have spent the whole day there. Get ready to walk and be ready for changes in weather. Bring snacks and water.

Historical Pompeii - I booked the tickets on Tripadvisor because of everything I read about the long ticket lines. We went on a Monday and there were virtually no lines for tickets. The Tripadvisor site was easy to navigate and download the tickets. One note….directions for retrieval of tickets and guide book was lacking. We went all the way to the main gate only to be told the ticket exchange was by the train station. Not a huge deal but we walked right past it to get to the main gate. We also should have either booked a guide or an audio tour. It was interesting wandering the city and once we figured out the map we were able to go directly to specific sites we wanted to see. The cafeteria wasn’t overly expensive ( IMO-compared to places in town).
I will definitely be back to Pompeii if only to do the Mt. Vesuvius shuttle and cone trek.

Strolling back in time - We had an amazing time in Pompeii. I love being able to immerse myself in such an old culture an travel back to see how advanced they were with setting up their community. This was my 2nd time visiting but my grandson an his girlfriend enjoyed as well. It saddens me that the USA has tried to erase our history an has taken it out of schools. I find we can keep the history an culture an build around it appreciating our lives more. A definite must see in Italy.

I am not happy at all - Viator site does not tell that children under 18 are free. I had to pay all the tickets for my 15-year old child and I am very frustrated with Viator’s service.
