  • Casa del Rilievo di Telefo - The house possibly belonged to one of the town’s leading benefactors, Marcus Nonius Balbus and is somewhat unusual in that it has its own private access to the adjoining Suburban Thermae to the south.
  • Partem Domus lignea - Casa del Tramezzo di Legno - It is very important house for the elegant wooden partition remained.

The house has a monumental entrance which still retains the carbonised remains of the doorposts and lintel.

  • Casa Sannitica - The house has an arrangement that was typical of the Samnites (an ancient people of the Sabine race who occupied this mountainous part of central Italy). The splendid atrium is skirted by a gallery with Ionic columns. The rooms are decorated with frescoes.
  • Casa del Bel Cortile - This is one of the most original houses in Herculaneum. It has a courtyard with a stairway and a stone balcony instead of an atrium.
  • House of the Grand Portal - Beautiful domus in the Centre of the archaeological area, with various environments, collonnati, frescos e-com everywhere at Herculaneum-charred remains of wooden parts.

Additional Information

Embark on an impressive stroll with a knowledgeable archaeologist and professional guide who will show you around the historic Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were engulfed by volcanic ashes from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. Experience the comfort of a private Minivan for your transportation.

A trek around Pompeii offers an intriguing experience. You will feel as though you are sauntering through a city still bustling with life. Your guide will provide insights into the city’s history and Roman lifestyle, highlighting key public structures and residential houses.

In contrast to Pompeii, which was draped in five meters of ash, Herculaneum was swallowed by a mudslide 20 meters thick. This resulted in Herculaneum being smaller yet better conserved than Pompeii. Here you can witness preserved two-story buildings, carbonized wooden artifacts, undisturbed paintings, and mosaics. Our guide’s narration will bring the city to life.

Tour of Pompeii and Herculaneum with an Archeologist - What an amazing tour. Thank you so much to Giovanni, our driver, for collecting us from the meeting point and navigating us gently through the Napoli traffic to Pompeii, then on to Herculaneum, and finally back home. He also shared his knowledge with on the way, pointing out key landmarks. At the sites we were escorted by Vincenzo. His knowledge was phenomenal. Everyone in our small group really enjoyed the day. Thank you both. Highly recommended tour.

Amazing Tour - ask for Ivan! - Amazing tour! We had three teenagers with us and they loved it too. Ivan was our tour guide and he was, not only extremely knowledgeable, but also so great to our entire family! Wear comfortable shoes - it's a long day. Bring water and snacks because you are walking a lot! I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

History in Pompeii - Ivan was an amazing guide. He was a wealth of information and was able to give personal context as he excavated some of the sights we saw himself. Ivan was engaging with our children as well. He was able to show us more interesting sections of Pompeii away from the large crowds of other tours. Additionally, Giovanni was our driver for two tours during our trip. He was an excellent driver making us feel safe the entire time. He also took us for a wonderful breakfast and gave our kids little gifts. He is such a sweet man and we very much enjoyed our two days with him. I would only use Askos Tours for any future trips to Italy.

Loved everything from the transport to the tour - Booked a Pompeii/Herculaneum 1/2 day tour. Was awesome!!! Everything was perfect from the pickup point to our driver- Giovanni who was so great! He was informative and made the travel so enjoyable. He made reservations for us a restaurant which I thought the food was excellent. He assisted us with information on other places to walk and explore after our drop off. Once at the sites, Rafael made the tour enjoyable and fun with little jokes here and there. Totally impressed!!! We had thought to do the tour ourselves or even meet at the site and skip the transport. Using the transport made it easy, simple and enjoyable.

Busy but amazing - The ASKOS driver Giovanni was really wonderful. His English was limited but communicated very well. He was clear on where we would meet after the school tour section. He was very pleasant and got a a back to the train station in plenty of time. His driving was excellent, we never felt nervous. Antonio the archeologist was excellent. It’s only a four star because there was so much ch to see and not enough time to absorb. But Antonio did a great job with the time we had. I suggest people don’t visit during The aster week! Other than that Italy was amazing.
