- Polonnaruwa - 7:30: You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Polonnaruwa by an Air conditioned vehicle.\n\n9:00: Arrive and do a sightseeing tour of one of the better kept ruins of ancient Ceylon - the UNESCO World Heritage City of Polonnaruwa, which was the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. Today you will be cycling about 10km on soft surfaces as you whiz between the ruins. The ancient heart of Sri Lanka.\n\nPolonnaruwa remains as one of the best planned archeological relic sites in the country, which was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1982. This is a well-preserved city with ancient dagobas, moonstones, beautiful parks, massive buildings and stunningly beautiful statues. The Sea of Parakrama, a vast 12th-century man-made water reservoir is also one of the main highlights in this wonderful ancient city. \n\n11:30: You will be taken back to your hotel. Arrive at your hotel approximately at 13:00.

The excellently maintained ruins from the 12th century and notable stone culture echo a profound history. Despite being almost 1000 years old, it’s much younger than Anuradhapura and typically in a better state. The monuments are situated in a moderately sized garden setting and their progression is easier to trace.
