Extraordinary experience - As someone who is into wine, my wife had been very much looking forward to our tasting at Tyrrell's. We felt lucky to have had Zac guide us through the variety of wines produced in Hunter Valley. Not only was he extremely knowledgable, but he was very personable taking time sit and talk with us about wine, pairings, the weather, or whatever else popped up in our conversations. As helpful and friendly as Zac was, the tasting wouldn't have been as memorable as it was if the wines were not of such good quality. We had the chance to sample 10 with our tasting, and ended with the problem of choosing which ones we wanted to take home with us most. I would recommend a tasting at Tyrell's to anyone looking to find a good Semilon in Hunter Valley, anyone looking to have a personalized experience with an experienced winemaker, or anyone simply looking for an enjoyable day in the area.

Birthday surpise! - I would like to say a huge thankyou to Richard, the Cellar Door Manager. I was in transit from Brisbane...on my birthday...and decided on a Semillon tasting to celebrate. I enjoyed Richards company and the wine tasting was exceptional, acknowledging the generational excellence of my most favourite variety. Thank you to Tyrells for making my day.

Top quality winery! - This was our second visit to Tyrell’s Winery in the last year. We were there last year over Easter and had a fantastic wine tasting experience with Matilda. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and the quality was fantastic. She allowed us to try a lot of wines and talked through each one. We returned today and had Richard look after us. He too was excellent, sharing his knowledge of the wines and giving us a generous taste of plenty of good ones! An iconic Australian winery and family. A must do when visiting the Hunter Valley.

Wonderful wines & fantastic staff a Hunter Valley highlight - This experience was a highlight of our trip to the Hunter Valley. The wines were gorgeous, but a point many wineries miss is that it is those that lead the tasting that make the difference. Tyrells had experienced individuals leading the tasting that actually cared about the wine produced and took pride in the quality of the vintages. At the end of the day, paying for tasting levels the playing field and removes the guilt. If those leading the tasting lack the experience and skills to inspire I'm not going to purchase. Tyrrels were informative, knowledgeable and took pride in the wines on offer and the service they delivered. Would definitely recommend.

Pinnacle of Wine Making in Pokolbin! - Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and wine tasting, a truely memorable experience. Being the oldest winery in the region the Tyrrells Estate is teeming with history and significant ongoing family heritage, including the original house (shack)positioned in pride of place near the tasting rooms! They should really consider creating a museum! We managed to be graced with a walk around the old and new stores and production areas. A true privilege! Our tour and wine tasting experience was wonderful with Andrew devoting his time to our needs and education! Thank you. Would highly recommend.

Friendly, authentic winery with great whites and reds! - Love visiting this place. It has retained the character and charm of feeling like a family owned winery and a great variety of high quality whites and reds. Also an intimate tasting experience without feeling like you’re part of the production line like some of the bigger/fancier places.

Great, unrushed tasting experience - A great, unrushed tasting experience with lots of information provided on the different vintages, blends and the tastes coming from the different soils and locations. A beautiful winery to visit that also has BBQs in the grounds.

Relaxed and generous tasting - Relaxed tasting with generous portions of wine. Staff were friendly, accommodating to our and happy to answer questions. Perhaps could have provided more information the winery's history and wine making process.

Learnt very little! Wine tasting should be for all! - Amazing place, but very disappointing tasting. It was a hot day and we were travelling, so I was low on clothes. I was in shorts, tennis shoes and a green shirt. I do have chocolate skin. I got judged immediately. The lady immediately passed me on to someone else and would not do the tasting herself. The guy insinuated that I was here to get sloshed and I wanted to know if I was from the western Sydney. It was one of my first tastings. I was excited until I soon realised that I had been judged. I was there to learn and got very little info and often ignored for an older couple nest us also tasting. Regardless, I paid for the tasting and bought the desert wine for $80. I am still quite miffed as to why I was so ill treated. My neighbour was a sales rep for Tyrells and one of the reasons for trying it out.

Not truly dog friendly - Just wanted to express our sincere disappointment that despite you being marketed as "dog friendly " you really weren't. We booked in for wine tastings, and hoping to buy numerous bottles, however our dogs weren't welcome inside the cellar door and your hostess wasn't prepared to offer tastings outside. Therefore we couldn't win. Unfortunately we were spoilt at other wineries where the dogs have been welcome inside. They just sit under our table peacefully without disturbing others. So being "dog friendly " means more than allowing a dog through the gate - in our point of view. We have asked for a refund of our tasting booking which has been done.
