At 10am, the tour guide will meet guests in the hotel lobby (Reception) area in Lakeside, Pokhara. A 20-30 minute drive will follow, leading to the Silkworm farm grounds. Here, guests will enjoy the natural surroundings and fresh air, away from the hustle and bustle of Pokhara city. The guide will share insights into the raw silk production cycle during the tour. Visitors will spend valuable time in the Mulberry (black, red) forests, gaining a wealth of information. The tour will then proceed to the Silkworm keeping house, exploring the silk net and silk-making process. A refreshing hike through the natural jungle will provide further rejuvenation, with the guide offering engaging information throughout. Silk production has a history that spans over a quarter of a century in Nepal. Nepalese Silk comes from the Bi-voltine Silk worm, typically found in the sub-tropical hilly regions, which produces silk of superior quality compared to multi-voltine worms from tropical regions. Sericulture, or the cultivation of silkworms for the production of raw silk, is a major industry in the area. During this tour, visitors will be guided around a large farm dedicated to silkworm rearing, teeming with thousands of black and red Mulberry plants, which happen to be the preferred food of the silkworm. The tour also includes visits to a silkworm habitat, a breeding center, and discussions about the life cycle of Silkworm production. The tour commences with a drive to the farm and wraps up at your hotel.
