The city was part of the Taulantii political community and was widely recognized as Apollonia of Illyria.
• Gjirokaster - Gjirokastër is a town and UNESCO World Heritage site in Southeastern Albania. Known as the City of Stones, it is an ancient Ottoman-era city celebrated for its traditional stone houses built on a hillside. This cultural city was declared a UNESCO site in 2005, highlighting its architecture as one of the most representative of the Ottoman era.
• Zekate House - The Zekate House is a magnificent example of the typical tower-house, belonging to the wealthiest families in Gjirokastra in the 19th century. It was owned by Beqir Zeko, a general administrator of Ali Pasha, and was constructed between 1811 and 1812.
• Ksamil Beach - Ksamil is a charming resort town renowned for its beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife in bars and clubs. It boasts clear blue waters, white sand, and proximity to three small islands accessible by boat.
• The Blue Eye - The Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër in Albanian) is a water spring and the primary source of the Bistricë, a 25 km long river that flows into the Ionian Sea just south of Saranda. This natural wonder has a depth of at least 50 meters, the deepest any diver has reached, leaving its true depth still unknown.
• Butrint National Park - Butrint, situated in southern Albania about 20 km from the modern city of Saranda, offers a unique atmosphere created by the fusion of archaeology, monuments, and Mediterranean nature. Its hinterland forms an exceptional cultural landscape that has evolved organically over centuries. Butrint has avoided the aggressive development that has diminished the heritage value of many historic landscapes in the Mediterranean region, presenting a rare combination of archaeology and nature.
• Lekuresi Castle - Lekursi Castle (Kalaja e Lëkurësit) is perched on Lekursi Hill, just behind Saranda, offering a breathtaking view over the town and bay, making it the most popular and iconic viewpoint in Saranda.
• Bylis - Byllis or Bullis was an ancient city and the principal settlement of the Illyrian tribe of the Bylliones, traditionally located in southern Illyria. During the Hellenistic period, the city was part of either Illyria or Epirus. In Roman times, it was included within Epirus Nova, in the province of Macedonia. The remains of Byllis are located northeast of Vlorë, 25 kilometers from the sea in Hekal, Fier County, Albania. Byllis was designated as an archaeological park on April 7, 2003, by the government of Albania.
• Saranda - Sarandë is a city in the Republic of Albania and the seat of Sarandë Municipality. Geographically, the city is situated on an open sea gulf of the Ionian Sea within the Mediterranean Sea. Stretching along the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast, Sarandë enjoys a Mediterranean climate with over 300 sunny days a year.
