Holbox Tour - The tour to Holbox was very nice. The boat took us to Isla Passion, Punta Mosquito, and Holbox. The tour guide was very nice and my family really loved Punta Mosquito. The lunch spot was delicious. We took the guide’s recommendation and upgraded our lunch and it was amazing! My only complaint was the transportation. The driver picked us up from the hotel lobby, but there was no way to identify him. It would help if he had on a company shirt or held a sign with our names, something. He overheard me asking someone else if they were there to pick us up. The driver made two additional pickups which is fine for a group tour. But then we stopped at a gas station and was told we needed to switch vans. It seemed a little shady at the time. On the way back the driver passed up our resort and we had to shout at him to turnaround to bring us back.

Not As Advertised - We booked a tour of Holbox with Yalku Tours via Get Your Guide and was so excited as this was the highlight of our trip to Mexico and as a couple we had been looking forward to it since our last visit to Mexico 2 years ago & were taking family with us to share the experience. Our handy pick up from the hotel was prompt and on time with an English speaking guide. We stopped at a petrol station to join with the other members of our group joining us for the day and presumed that this is where we would receive the included breakfast which was advertised! Alas no, we were just told that there was a coffee machine and we could buy snacks if we were hungry. Bananas and oreos were loaded into the van with water and soft drinks, so I suppose this is the breakfast! The rest of the party was Spanish speaking and so the rest of the day the guide mostly spoke to them and spent time explaining the things we were seeing and we made out the best we could with the information I had learnt previous to the visit. The speed boat from Chiquila to the island was lovely and refreshing after the minibus trip and really was a fab way to travel. The first 2 stops even though very busy, were lovely and an abundance of wildlife at both, We enjoyed taking a dip in the cenote and watching the flamingos and birds at "passion island" both of which felt a little like paradise. It was when we arrived at Holbox town we felt the most dissapointed, it is extremely run down and dirty with piles of foul smelling seaweed running the entire length of the beach. We walked to a beach side restaurant where our pre ordered lunch was available for us. It was very tasty and well cooked and was the nicest part of our town visit & we were treated very well. Now here is my biggest gripe, it states on the Yalku website and Get Your Guide page that the golf carts are included in the tour but our guide said that they were an extra that we had to find for ourselves. It was a main selling point of the tour for the two guys with us so I was sure they were included and felt slightly ripped off with the lack of service! It was stated that it would be a full 12 hour tour but we were back at the hotels after 9 hours. Overall we had a good day and made some lovely memories but I personally felt a little cheated as I had been the one to organise the trip and felt I had let down the other members of the group by not picking a better company who fulfils their promises.

Not as promised - The selling point for us for this trip was the Holbox island golf cart opportunity to drive around the island. There was no golfcarts and we were told that the description on the website was a fault. The visit to bird island was great but cenote was dirty and there were no changing rooms, not worth it at all. Visit for example cenote Hubiku instead. To little time on Holbox and to much time spent in bus from and back from Playa del Carmen to harbour in Cancun. This trip is not worth the money spent, and we did not get refund because of the golfcarts missing.
