Great way to see whales - After reading the reviews I wasn't quite sure what to expect but we had a fantastic time, all the crew/staff were great and we had very close views of dolphins and pilot whales. We booked a tour that included being picked up at our hotel by coach which made the day very easy, the trip to the port did take about 2 hours but there was a comfort stop and there are toilets on board the boat. The sea was reasonably calm and although I'm a poor sailor I didn't have any seasickness - I think it helps that the boat is medium sized but if you are worried or the sea is rough perhaps take some seasickness remedy with you. The boat was quite full but it wasn't a problem and it didn't feel crowded. Initially we sailed to a quiet location to allow for swimming and lunch. I didn't swim but those who did said it was great and the water was warm. I thought the lunch was good given the number of people on board and the limited facilities - as other people have said it was meatballs, rice and salad and there were lovely Canarian bananas for dessert. I'm not a fan of meatballs but the salad and rice were delicious and with a roll and the banana you didn't need anything else. Soft drinks, beer and sangria were all available and included in the price and you could buy additional hot drinks and snacks, although after the lunch I didn't want anything else. An unexpected bonus for me was to go past the Gigantes, it was a fabulous view of them and the coast in this region and the lady doing the narration told you a lot about the Canary Islands on the way. Finally we were able to see two separate pods of Pilot Whales, the second pod came very close, and Bottle Nosed dolphins - this was a fabulous experience and the crew gave you plenty of time to watch them - the trip never felt rushed at all. I would really recommend this, I think it is well worth the cost to see the whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. Throughout the trip the staff/crew were all very helpful and friendly and really helped to make it a great experience. One tip, it is colder on the open deck at the top of the boat so do take a jumper - towards the end of the trip the wind was making it quite chilly.

Amazing trip - What a brilliant trip. Coach to the boat was lovely and the driver was helpful. The boat was clean, welcoming and the staff were all friendly. We had a great experience. My two daughters 6 and 3 were doted on by the staff on board they made it such a lovely experience. We left the harbour then stopped for the swim in the ocean, the lunch was also brought out which was meatballs in a sauce similar to ikea, rice with veg, coleslaw and fruit. The drinks were also included. We bought ice creams and momentos which were reasonably priced. Then we went in search of dolphins which were beautiful it was so lovely seeing them jumping out of the water and following the boat. I did get seasick but the staff looked after me so well.

Brilliant - We had a fantastic time on the boat . The staff were friendly and provided information in different languages including Spanish German and English . There were several staff on board and they announced sightings of the whales and dolphins. The stop off for the swim was in a magical location looking at the cliffs of los gigantes towering above with the sun and shade Causing an amazing effect . The food was ok …. Nothing special but filled any hunger . Large portions Rice meatballs and fruit . There was soft drinks , beer and sangria available at self service points and a bar with snacks to purchase. The boat trip was in my opinion really good value for money and we were lucky to see whales dolphins and flying fish , a lovely boat ride and the sight of Teide in the distance for most of the journey from different angles , in shade , cloud and sun . The sunset on the return journey and music and commentary were fantastic . It the staff came round and refilled drinks that would enhance the trip. We also had a local honey liquor before returning to port which was delicious. I would definitely do this trip Again

Great value, great experience! - Fantastic trip, loved every minute! Staff were all friendly and helpful, the guide was very informative. Amazing seeing the whales, flying fish and Los Gigantes, any my husband very much enjoyed his swim in the bay! A great selection of drinks that are available throughout the trip. Lunch was most enjoyable, huge portions and very well organised. The only negative is that I should imagine if you go when the trip is at capacity, it would be quite crowded. Other that than, I would highly recommend this most enjoyable afternoon at sea! Definitely good value for money compared to other trips we went on.

We took the 4.5 hour boat trip! Wow, what a fabulous memory making day taking in the coastal history and finding Cetaceans - A must do!! Beautiful narrated tour along the coastline taking in Los Gigantes on a hunt for Cerateans!! If you don't have great sea legs, use motion sickness patches, they really help, as the Atlantic ocean is quite rough at times! The catamaran is huge with an inner seated area near the bar (you can buy branded drinks, chocolate, crisps and souvenirs), a small glass window area below deck to view under the water and a large forward seated area on the upper deck. Unlimited water, soft drinks, beer and sangria (well recommended ) The crew handed out apples on the voyage out, narrated everything we could see in several languages by Anya. We sailed along to Los Gigantes, accompanied by lots of flying fish..... fantastic to watch 🐟, which is the oldest part of Tenerife and an old volcano🌋, the formations are breathtaking and awesome to see! We then went to Masca Bay, anchored and all jumped off the boat for a swim, whilst lunch was cooking 🍳 don't be put off by the 'greasy film' in the water surface, it's volcanic ash not oil, lol! Lunch was meatballs, rice, coleslaw, bread roll and a banana 🍌 very nice! We then went into deeper waters in search of whales and dolphins! We were not disappointed, Short finned pilot whales 🐳 were found in a huge pod, with a massive male and Mum and baby..... it brought a tear to the eye, just watching these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.... they were literally 10 feet away from the boat!! We then spotted the dolphins 🐬 again, so amazing to watch in their own environment! We were even treated to a show from them, as the boat zig zagged and they played in the wash of the waves!! I can highly recommend this tour, for 60€ each, it is steep but so magical and worth it!! Picked up from our hotel, we even got a tour of the island as we were at El Medano and the boat departs from Los Cristianos! Bonus! You are photographed (landscape and portrait picture versions) as a couple, or as a group or as a family (depends on your set up) me and hubby were with my brother and sister-in-law and these are sold to you at the end. 15€ for 1, 20€ for 2 or 50€ for all 8 photos. As we wanted pics of each other, originally we chose one of us as a couple and 1 of us as a foursome each, but for the extra 10€ we opted for the full pack. However, they don't pressurise you into buying them, which is good, as it makes for an expensive day if you are on a limited budget. Well worth the money, as we got to fulfill some of our bucket list, especially when they said it was 50/50 on full sightings! If you do nothing else in Tenerife, this is a must do!

Bottlenose dolphins and pilot whales - We enjoyed our trip on the Royal Delfin. We went out to Los Gigantes first to see the cliffs and for a swim stop. It was good to see the geographical features of the island but this was a very large part of the trip when we were mainly there for the dolphin/whale watching side. The underwater viewing on the boat was cool on this part (saw a stingray, starfish, plenty of fish) but if it was any less clear it would have been very difficult to see much. The second half was where we looked for the whales/dolphins. We saw lots of pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins (which played around the front of the boat and then followed us, jumping out of the water once we set back off to the harbour). It was great that we saw so much but also would have been nicer to spend more time with them than so long for the swim stop. We didn't go down to the glass bottom section when the dolphins/pilot whales were around because we were happy watching from the deck but they were pretty close to the boat so I imagine it would have been a good view. The boat was turned round to get the best views of the wildlife but if they swam away the boat maintained a respectful distance, both the pilot whales and the bottlenose dolphins stayed close to the boat for a long time though so we had good views. There was some commentary but it wasn't overly clear from all areas on board so was difficult to hear from parts of the boat. We could've moved to hear better but chose to stay in the better spot to watch the wildlife. We also saw some flying fish on the very last stretch into the harbour and enjoyed the beautiful sunset on the way back. An enjoyable trip, including food at the swim stop and drinks throughout. Friendly staff, reasonably priced. Quite busy but easy enough to find a quieter spot.

Beautiful experience with whales, dolphins and swimming under the cliffs but boat a bit too crowded - We did the 4.5-hour Royal Delfin trip and truly loved it! Swimming at the bottom of those majestic cliffs in the open ocean was an unforgettable experience, and watching whales, dolphins, and even flying fish in such an environmentally friendly way really filled our hearts. The lunch was abundant, and drinks (water, beer, soft drink), and fruit were all included, which was a nice touch. The only downside for us was the number of people on board — it felt a bit too crowded for our taste. If they limited the number of passengers a bit more, it would be absolutely perfect. Overall, a memorable and enjoyable experience that I recommend, especially for nature and sea lovers!

Expected more of it - First of all: seeing whales and dolphins was spectacular. Within twenty minutes of leaving the port we met several families. Very special. Then it was said that we could not sail north because of the choppy weather, so we could not view Los Gigantes, we therefore sailed east. We got lunch, which was fine, and there was a swim stop. But we didn't see anything else. The excursion was in two hours so fine, those 4.5 hours was really not necessary. In addition, we did not go back to the port where we had the car, but we were put on a bus to the port in the south, where we arrived more than an hour later than agreed. I hate buses, that's why we didn't book an organized trip but drove ourselves to the port by car. Unfortunately we had to take the bus anyway. And finally, I had searched especially for Dutch speaking tour guide, but everything was said in Spanish, English, French and German. Only the photographer spoke Dutch, but we never saw the photos. Printing would also happen in the north but of course we had not been there. In short: dolphins and whales: great. Unfortunately, the rest was a bit disappointing.

Never again - I’m writing this while still on board. It’s that bad. Right from the off, I had a feeling about this trip this trip. We paid 130 euros for the two of us, so it wasn’t cheap. When we got to the port, there was already a queue and a further two coaches pulled up at the same time. Talk about sardines in a can, this was 10 times worse. People pushing and shoving to get the best spaces and taking up more seats than they needed. The trip was supposed to include all drinks and lunch. My hubby, who is a diabetic, couldn’t drink what was on offer, soda drinks and beer. I asked if he could have a coffee and, after some strained discussion with a member of the crew, was told he could have one coffee. He never got this and so could only drink the water we took with us for the entire 4.5 he trip. Lunch was bit disappointing as well, sloppy rice and over ripe fruit were part of the offering. I ended up with just one dry bread bun. Don’t book this trip before doing your research. I’m sure there are much better well organised trips available.
