Highlights
  • Cordillera Blanca - The Nevado Pisco is a component of the Huandoy massif. This peak features the East and West summits, connected by a ridge to the renowned “Huandoy”. Atop its peak, one can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic vista, often described as the heart or viewing platform of the Cordillera Blanca. Looking eastward from the summit, the majestic Chacraraju is visible, while to the north, the Pyramid of Garcilaso, Artesonraju, Quitaraju, Alpamayo, and Santa Cruz come into view; to the East, the Snowy Caraz, Aguja, El Cerro, La Esfinge, and the four peaks of Huandoy are seen; to the south, the tallest peaks of the Cordillera Blanca and Peru, Huascarán North and South, along with Chopicalqui, dominate the landscape. Pisco is considered a relatively straightforward climb, accessible via its standard route. Its name, shared with the iconic Peruvian beverage, is thought to have been inspired by the pisco that porters savored at the peak to commemorate the initial ascent. Pisco is favored for acclimatization, often selected by climbers as a final trekking challenge or as preparation before attempting more technically demanding ascents.
