Highlights

DAY 1: PHNOM PENH / SKUN / SAMBOR PREIKUK / HOMESTAY

Sambor Prei Kuk - 9:00, pick up from your hotel in Phnom Penh and drive to Sambor Preikuk (190km). On the way stop at Skun village where the villagers from this area sell fried spiders (tarantula), scorpions, silkworm, water beetle, crickets, and many varieties of fruits.
Arrive Kampong Thom at noon; lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch, visit a world heritage site of Sambor Preikuk which was concluded by UNESCO in July 2017. The site was once an old capital named Isanapura and a religious center for the worship of Shiva Brahmanism. Many temples were built in Sambo Preikuk includes Prasat Sambor, Prasat Yeaypean, and Prasat Tao (The Lion Temple).
Transfer to the village and check-in at the villager’s house where you spend the rest of your day with them, helping them cooking, cleaning, and interact with peoples in the village.

DAY 2: SAMBOR PREIKUK / KAMPONG KLEANG / SIEM REAP

Siem Reap Province - Breakfast at the homestay and depart for Siem Reap (180km). On the way, visit the Kampong Kdei bridge, which was the Angkorian Bridge, along the ancient high way from Angkor to Wat Pho located in Laos today. Continue for another 45 minutes to Kampong Khleang, the largest fishing community on the great lake Tonlé Sap, for visiting the stilt houses, the fishing method, smoked fished production, floating village etc… Kampong Kleang is an authentic fishing village, located 45km from Siem Reap, the village is full of 4 - 5-meter stilt houses including over 10000 inhabitants. Experience the daily life of fishermen on the lake of Tonle Sap.
Arrive in Siem Reap in the afternoon, check-in the hotel.

  • Homestay at Sambor Preikuk is at villager’s house, this will be a mattress on the floor, with pillow provided and mosquito net and fan. The bathroom facilities will be shared and will often consist of a squat style toilet and a washing area. The washing area may be a shower or it could be Asia style with a bucket shower. Towels will be provided for you to use for washing.

Great family, great guide - Perfect opportunity to stay locally and to get a great experience. Furthermore, you support the village community. We went cycling through the temple area with a great local guide awesome stay. Thoroughly recommend it to everyone looking for something else than hotels ☺️

Perfect tour guide - Sambath was an amazing tour guide during our time in Cambodia. Even going above and beyond by organising a sunset cruise and a surprise birthday cake for me, when he realised I would be celebrating my birthday on the trip. An awesome guy and great tour guide.
