Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum - TuolSleng was a former high school that the Khmer Rouge turned into a centre for interrogation, torture and death. Today it is a museum of torture and serves to remind visitors of the terrible atrocities that came to pass in Cambodia. 17,000 people passed through the gates of this prison and only seven lived to tell the tale. Experience and not everyone will want to visit. However, it is key to understanding the hell into which Cambodia descended and how far it has come in the years since.

We confront the terrifying acts of the Khmer Rouge head-on. Tuol Sleng, once a high school, was transformed by the Khmer Rouge into a hub for questioning, torment, and death. Today, it serves as a torture museum, acting as a haunting reminder of the appalling crimes that occurred in Cambodia. 17,000 individuals entered this hellish prison and a mere seven survived to recount their experience. This disturbing place isn’t for everyone, but it’s crucial for understanding the depths of despair Cambodia plunged into and the progress it has made in recovering.
Tamao mountain sprawls over a land area of 25,000 hectares, serving as a forest preservation zone. Within this, a 70-hectare region is studded with ancient temples. One of these, the Tamao Temple, was erected in the 11th century in dedication to Brahmanism. Additionally, Tamao zoo houses 84 varieties of animals and birds, all of which have been recovered by the Ministry of Agriculture, and seized from individuals engaged in illegal wild animal trafficking across Cambodia.
