Rocket Launches and Sniper Shots: My Day at Cambodia Fire Range
In search of a unique adventure, I ventured to Phnom Penh’s Cambodia Fire Range. Shooting a rocket and other heavy weaponry promised an unforgettable experience, and it delivered in spades. Here’s how my day unfolded.
A Thrilling Day at the Cambodia Fire Range
As a digital nomad exploring Southeast Asia, I often seek out unique experiences that won’t break the bank. When I heard about the Cambodia Fire Range in Phnom Penh, I knew I had to check it out. The idea of shooting a rocket and other heavy weaponry was too intriguing to pass up. Plus, it was a chance to see a different side of Cambodia, away from the usual tourist spots.
The journey to the range was an adventure in itself. The drive from the city center took us through the beautiful Cambodian countryside, offering a glimpse of rural life that I hadn’t seen before. As we approached the military base where the range is located, I felt a mix of excitement and apprehension. The base is tucked away at the back, which makes sense given the nature of the activities. Once we arrived, the sight of various weapons hanging on hooks was both intimidating and exhilarating.
The Adrenaline-Pumping Experience
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the chance to fire a rocket. I also got to try my hand at an RPD and a Dragunov Sniper. The staff at the range were professional and ensured that we were briefed on safety protocols before we began. I decided to add some petrol barrels, watermelons, and gas cans to the mix for a more explosive experience. While I was tempted to try the caliber dooshka, I was more than satisfied with the rocket.
One thing to note for future visitors is the option to add a propane tank for a bigger explosion. It’s an additional cost, but if you’re looking for that extra thrill, it might be worth considering. The staff mentioned this option when we arrived, and while I didn’t opt for it, I can see how it would enhance the experience.
Reflections and Recommendations
Overall, my day at the Cambodia Fire Range was unforgettable. The thrill of handling such powerful weapons was unlike anything I’ve experienced before. While there were a few minor hiccups, like the upselling of the propane tank and the requirement to review before receiving the video, these didn’t detract from the overall experience.
For fellow budget travelers, this activity is a bit of a splurge, but it’s one that I believe is worth it for the unique experience it offers. Just be sure to bring exact change if you plan to add any extras. The staff were easy to communicate with via email, and I appreciated their professionalism throughout the day.
If you’re in Phnom Penh and looking for something out of the ordinary, I highly recommend the Cambodia Fire Range. It’s a day of adrenaline and adventure that you won’t soon forget.
