Great experience - This was a great experience. The tour guide was funny and insightful. Saw all there was to offer. We didn’t get off and on but if we did there was busses running every 30-45 minutes.

Top Deck Tour. - Very comfortable way to see many sights in a very short time. Excellent guide, local color, history and facts about Philly. Nice day to ride a double deck tour bus. I stayed on the complete tour ride as I had a museum to visit later in the day.

Big Bus was wonderful - Great way to see Philadelphia for first timers like us. The bus was clean, the guide (Ruth) was knowledgeable and easy to hear and understand. Money well spent!

Okay once you figure it out but needs improvement. - The biggest thing we learned was to use the pamphlet. It has the number for them 215-389-8687 and puts their winter hours as 1000-1600. This is contrary to the schedule on the website that has them starting at 0930. The benefit is the bus goes to several tourist areas so you don't have to use public transportation. However, if you try to contact the company via the website chat function its impossible as the Big Bus in Philadelphia is a franchise location. We were also able to ride the red "City Sightseeing" bus with our ticket but that was because the buses were alternating trips every hour (meaning the route was only being done by Big Bus every 2 hours). While I appreciated the route and the guide, not being able to track where the buses are is annoying because you have no idea if you just missed it. You can call the number but they can only give approximate times when it should arrive and don't get location updates either. I am glad that I got it with the Go City pass and didn't shell out the $30+ cost for it. If you do have the Go City pass you also need to go to stop 1 or 6 to get a ticket. At spot six there was an agent there who was able to give us our tickets and then we were able to hop on or off at any location.

Not Recommended - Not recommended. Overpriced. Stops difficult to locate. Digital tickets need to be scanned and converted to paper tickets prior to boarding—the people on the bus can’t do that. Tour guide was a standup comic wannabe who really should look for another line of work—totally inappropriate and useless. He spent more time laughing at his own “jokes” and urging passengers to tip generously than he did describing the sights. Quite disappointing.

A little flexibility would be nice for mistakes… - Booked a tour and cancelled within a few minutes after realizing our friends booked with a different company. I saw no refunds within 24 hours, but given that the reservation and cancellation were within under an hour, I would hope they could forgive a mistake. BTW- the buses will honor each other’s tickets, so it doesn’t really even matter which company you book with.

Glib commentary, lost opportunity - The "guide" was very glib and dismissive of the history of Philadelphia and the nation. Called William Penn Jr. a "repo baby" with PTSD and Betsy Ross a pimp -- she was married three times, he "explained" when I asked what he meant. He breezed over the black architect who designed major buildings in the city -- I will do my own research on that one to get his name. This cynical, glib commentary was most unwelcome and uninformative. My party of 13 all felt the same way. Philadelphia is a great place, though, and worthy of a coherent and upbeat treatment.
