We walk through the neighborhoods both north and south of it, stopping to see various former and current synagogues, the Hebrew school, immigrant bank, bath houses, theaters, union halls, restaurants and a currently open kosher Jewish bakery.

Discover the lives of the Jewish immigrants at the dawn of the 20th century. The tour includes a range of sites such as synagogues, banks, bakeries, and schools. Dr. Schatz, a specialist in Philadelphia’s Jewish History, will be sharing personal family stories whilst highlighting significant buildings and institutions in the area. Usually, there is an opportunity to visit at least one currently functioning synagogue (dependent on its opening times), as well as a kosher Jewish bakery. Feel free to have snacks on your own cost, and any contributions at the synagogue are appreciated.
