With engrossing narratives and emphasis on art, intersecting identities and cultural aspects, Morals + Murals Hood Tour brings to forefront the resilience and allure of Black history, wall art and people in West and ‘Norf’ Philadelphia. The tour lasts for three hours, during which a variety of subjects are discussed such as the experience of growing up as a Black individual, the implications of displacement, and questioning the common notion of what, and where, constitutes the “hood”.
The journey starts at LOVE Park with a short introduction following which we board public transportation to reach neighborhoods exhibiting the murals of prominent Black figures including Kenny Gamble, Patti LaBelle, Malcolm X, Will Smith, and regular locals resembling us.
