This expedition will follow in the footsteps of the inaugural settlers of Philadelphia. The early appearance of Philadelphia was strikingly dissimilar to the modern city it is today. This tour, filled with abundant illustrations, contains infrequent images of the shoreline. Understand the evolution of the waterfront. This is the only excursion available in Philadelphia that explores this era and region. We stroll along the present shoreline and the adjacent neighborhoods.
Besides the attractions mentioned below, the tour also includes The Man Full O’ Trouble Tavern, the location of the Tun Tavern (the Marine Corps’ cradle) and the only surviving set of steps commissioned by William Penn for waterfront access.
This tour can also be conducted in German.
